Godam you're stupid. Do you really think that if all the competitors started doing more "enetertaining" routines, it would make bodybuilding more appealing to a mass audience? Ha ha ha! Oh brother. If people want to see entertainment, they will go to Cirque du Soleil or a magic show, not a bodybuilding show with juice-monkeys like Tamali attempting a dance routine that couldn't even make it on the Gong Show 
Stop trying to make the "sport" appeal to the "masses"...it NEVER will. Instead, bring back the hardcore fans who have been leaving in droves.
hmmm, maybe we should focus less on the speculative and more on what has actually been
proven.
we shall start our lecture with a history lesson:
a few decades ago there was this little known bodybuilder named arnold schwarzenegger.
this humble soul emigrated to america from his tiny little village in austria.
when he came to america he quickly realised that the sport of bodybuilding was little known (like himself) and only seemed to appeal to "hardcore fans".
rather than follow the accepted tradition like a mindless sheep, he set about making the sport "appeal to the masses".
he brought bodybuilding to the public by getting out of the gym and mixing with the public. he showed the public that bodybuilding was not confined to people that live in gyms, take steroids, drink milk, take liver tabs all day. he demonstrated with his own actions that bodybuilders DID drink beer, have fun/sex/sun/party and, most importantly, not have to consume copious quantites of milk and liver tabs.
he even starred in the odd movie here and there and eventually had a go at politics. he "appealed to the masses" and "entertained" them.
anyway, cut a long story short, he achieved some moderate success and one or two more people became interested in him and this bodybuilding thing.
then (bear in mind this is 3 decades ago) he left the sport and the sport had success off his name for a while before gradually returning back to it's "subculture" because the nobodies that populate this sport (mindspin) continue to see no further than the end of their dicks.
