When I see what these bodybuilders do to their bodies and the extremes they go to for a title or to get in the magazines, I say I wouldn't want to do that.

But in the end, many years from now, their pictures and stories will still be in magazines, web sites, their digital images will exist forever. Who knows what kid from the year 3000 thousand will be inspired by a Rhul or even a Kamali. And where will we be, the moderate people who played it safe, who never got in the magazines? Will anyone remember us.
Does it matter?

Maybe these guys are smart, get famous at all costs, live forever.

but maybe in the future some of these other bodybuilders will get recognition. It happens all the time.

There are many old singers and musicians that are not appreciated till after they are dead... Until their style becomes the style of the day, then they get famous. Why wouldn't it be the same with bodybuilding.

But, Im not talking about world famous like Arnold I'm talking about immortal recognition in the subculture of bodybuilding.

Even if Jay Cutler dies at 40, He will always be Mr. Olympia year 2006 from now until eternity. The digital age will keep his picture exactly as it is today, it will be there forever. He will be looked at and admired by someone from the year 3000, 4000, 5000..Maybe not such a bad trade off..?

Its only the real champs, freaks and innovators that will be remebered. Arnold, Dorian, Ronnie, Rhul etc. People have alredy started to forget about Shawn, Flex, Nasser etc etc.

Yes but in the digital age, Shawn, Flex, Nasser, are not going away. Their pictues are immortalized in cyber space bodybuilding history, good or bad their images and stories will still be around. Ours will not. Is it worth it?

well of course there are limitation that some people have

I am talking hypothetically. If you new you could make it in the magazines and have your image live forever, but you would die early, is that a cool trade off?

yeah and some of us will actually live long enough to live forever. We will still be around in the year 3000 to make fun of these monkeys.

I see the point you are trying to make. However, those people (musicians in this case) did something worthwhile. Something worth remembering. Growing muscles, to the point where it's unhealthy, and posing for a crowd of gay men, is not exactly something to glorify. Hell, if anyone actaully remembered them, I'd probably be as part of a joke, like we do today.
