My how music has changed!!!!
« on: July 27, 2007, 04:18:54 PM »

this was pop music in the 1970's, big difference from the "fergalicios" garbage around today, this is around 72 or 73.

That was during a time where rock/pop was fused with a more technical side of things. The drugs of that era helped a lot too!
For the most part, music from the 1800's up to the current time is all based on the same 4-5 chords. It's how you put them together that makes them so different. 8)

Yes, music is utter garbage today. I partly blame MTV for it. That channel has made people more concerned about who is fashionable than who is talented. 'Nuff said.

Absolutely. M-TV made an audio form, into a visual form. The video accompanying the music took over, and now it stands as the video being cooler than the song itself.

Bluto- how old are you? ::)

She sucks too.

We learned something here today. Rage and Britney both suck. You can still keep your Rage posters though.

yes, MTV has played a HUGE role in the drastic decline of mainstream music quality. theyve made it so that the point of the 'musicians' is to sell an image instead of making actual good music ::)

Music today does suck..

I listen to 70's and 80's stuff.. Very complex guitar, vocals and drums.

Now it's just some asshole in a durag saying a few lines that take no intellectual thoughts to come up with. Or some dumb bitch in a skirt who can't sing and doesn't even write her own lyrics.

This has been going on since forever. Just go back to the Monkees.

MTV is the devil though.

a steely dan man, huh squadfather?  i didnt take you for that type of guy. i took you for the type of guy who would like music that sounds sort of like a hardcorish norman greenbaum.

and fergie is not todays equivelant of steeley dan.   fergie compare more with like donny osmond.

good new pop would be modest mouse, hot hot heat, jamiroquai, maroon 5...
d[-_-]b actin all cool

Today's music is more specifically focused on kids. Pop music for adolescents.

Same thing for movies. All the mediums have been dumbed-down. There's better out there in music, movies, TV, radio, internet if you're prepared to dig for niches.
