One of the most impressive pros around:

http://www.bodybuildingpro.com/donlongtohellandbackdvd.html

Is it possible Don was relegated to outside of the top 15 at the 2006 Atlantic City Pro as a disincentive to competition by the judges due to his health issues?

Yes I think they didn't want to encourage him with a good placing.  He is too much of a liability for the ifbb.

Wonder what the IFBB will say if he collapses and dies on stage one day while posing... the guy's on dialysis and juiced to the gills.. what an idiot.

Major slap in the face to the one who donated their kidney to him. Jerkface even goes on stage to flaunt it. Pathetic how he emailed a bunch of promoters asking to guest pose at shows for free. Good to see one of them felt sorry for him instead of turning him down like all the others did, even if he is for FREE! Might have saved him jumping off a bridge (not that i'd care tho)

No...it is possible, however, that Don wasn't in good enough condition to place higher...

He's obviously still juicing hard.  His body did reject the kidney but unlike Flex and Tom he had the sense to wait long after the fact before competing again, so it isn't as much of a slap in the face to his sister as it could have been.  However, why push things when you are in a serious health state?

He did look a little washed out from pictures that I've seen whereas in his DVD he looked like he was on the road to hitting his peak perfectly, although he may have missed it.

This isn't a conspiracy, Bob.  Any intelligent businessperson would sooner see their business prosper as opposed to seeing one person keep their pride.  If I ran the IFBB I would see to it that Don didn't place well at the show - in that situation the benefits of doing so simply outweigh the risks.

If that was the case, they simply would have denied him the opportunity and not taken the risk....

That's an easy one. In SERIOUS denial his fantasy bodybuilding "career" is over (career never really got started but u catch my drift) and will never be able to grow. Now he's asking show promoters to guestpose for free, to say: 'See? my bb career is NOT over!' while he whipes off his tears.

pathetic

Not exactly...

Remember, he did pass all the health requirements to enter the show.  The IFBB had no choice but to let him compete as a pro bodybuilder in an open show (as is his right) or else they would risk a potential discrimination lawsuit.  However, once he was in, there is no law against screwing him over at a show.  This is more common sense than anything else.

Exactly.... much easier to let him compete and just place him low.  No conspiracy at all, just protecting one's business.

I would say so.  Although my memory did serve me correctly and it appears he was washed out at the show:

I would also possibly say that he looks better in the guest posing pictures above.  That being said, being outside of the top 15 was still a little much given his crazy arms and excellent back.  Either way, I was happy to hear that he placed poorly as I really think Don should throw in the towel and shrink down to under 200 pounds and try to be as healthy as possible.

Bullshit....they could have easily not let him in and have every right under the rules....you're guessing...I was involved in the talks on Don's behalf...

He didn't get screwed over...he ended up placing exactly where he should have based on his physique.

How so?  Was he not given a clean bill of healthy from his doctors?

Maybe the IFBB isn't as business savvy as I thought.  If they could have denied him the ability to enter, they should have.  Obviously given his health condition and reliance on dialysis, competition bodybuilding is not going to help him.

The IFBB was given assurances and also required paperwork should anything happen to Don....by his personal Dr., himself, and his family.

Yeah I figured that much, but you said they could easily have denied him, so I think that would have been the intelligent choice, to easily (presumably, legally) deny him.  Nothing beneficial could have happened to the IFBB by letting him compete IMO.

In a sport where the kidney is vital, nothing good could have come of this.  Long should relax and train for fun.
