depends what youre looking for in a magazine

go to a newsstand and look through the pages or even buy an issue and see whats best for you

mens health is more general info fitness and male stuff, not just training
muscle fitness is also more general fit lifestyle etc
flex and muscular development are more hardcore, featuring lots of info about pro bodybuilders, how they eat, train etc contest coverage that sorta thing

You right, but i guess the question is: MD OR FLEX, which one and why. Ive been checking FLEX and seems to be more complete than MD. What do you think

Depends what your goals are.  FLEX is glossy and well rounded.  MD is less complete but more gear info.

i prefer md. it's a 500 pages. half is adds but thats still more material than the rest. i like their ongoing series where they have for 20 pages or so branch warren and marcus ruhl discuss how they train a bodypart (so far it's been chest one issue, legs one issue and latest one arms)
also they have half a dozen pros answering questions every issue, several even. where as flex maybe have a couple of pros anwering just one each.

Go with Ironman Magazine.  Has some of the best routines and advice around and doesn't push the supplements it advertises in it's articles like many of the others do.

I had MD for a year, don't recommend it, the articles are regurgitatet or a simply carried together from the Internet, rest of the stuff you know much faster if you stick around getbig.

Get national Geographic, you get way more out of that mag.

None of them.  The only value at all is contest coverage/pretty pictures, which you can get elsewhere.

Have your friend buy you a case of good beer, or a bottle of bourbon like normal people do.

I also go with National Geographic. At only £19 a month it's better value and a more interesting read than any bodybuilding rag.

What magazines are there available in Australia to subscribe to? And what one would you recommend?

I wouldn't read a Weider publication if you paid me.  Ironman and Musclemag have the best training content, and I would highly recommend Ironman for the natural/older trainee.  Muscular Development wins the "most entertaining" award, and also deserves high praise for it's candid, scientific reporting, the only magazine which openly challenges bureaucratic idiocy while making a valid argument for responsible steroid use.

Musclemag is okay if you can get through all the paid "advertorials", especially from Muscletech.  I used to read it, but got tired of their hidden advertisements within the article contents.  And it doesn't seem fair to have to pay $6.99/7.99 per issue when the magazine is made up of 50% advertisements.  I think ol' Bob Kennedy is probably making pretty good bucks just off the advertising revenue and could slash the price a dollar or two.
