No matter what you guys say the Allies would have suffered 100 of 1000s of casualties when they invaded Japan mainland.
The Japanese would never ever have surrendered and their casualties would have been even higher.
Ironically dropping those 2 bombs saved a lot of lives and ended a war that had been carrying on for far to long already.

of course thats the explanation youve been fed, but in reality there was no need to invade japan at all. they were already beat.
we dropped those bombs to send a message to the russians, that we were still number one, plain and simple.

Speculation about the necessity of an invasion of Japan or that dropping the bombs was done to intimidate Russia is thought provoking.

But in the end, it is just speculation and not justification.

What we do have are the very words of the generals/admirals of the war which I posted.  And they all agree that from a military point of view, the dropping of either atomic bomb was not necessary to secure the surrender of the Japanese.
