It really says something that to date, as far as I know, Ron Paul is the only candiate people are showing up on this board excited about.  Does anyone have another to bring against Ron?  I am far from making a choice, but the interest in Ron and what he stands for is impressive.

I'm already sick to death of Hillary and Obama, if this goes anything like a horse race and it often does, these two sprinted full speed out of the gate and will be left long behind by primary time.

I like a lot of what he stands for, but he's pretty much irrelevant.  He is as likely as Al Sharpton to be elected president.

First of all, obviously he has a better chance than Al Sharpton...  That's overkill... I don't know, with such a massive portion of both republicans and democrats disgruntled with their parties, the guy in the corner saying something different just might find himself with the nomination and elected.  Unless you're saying the system is rigged and there's no way in hell and I'm sure that's very possible too.  The fact is, if you don't run Ron Paul, republicans won't stand a chance.  Guiliani?  AHhahahhahha... not a shot in hell...

Check this out:  http://www.pollingreport.com/wh08rep.htm  If these polls are accurate, Paul is pulling about 2 percent or less of the vote among Republican candidates.

Here is one showing Sharpton getting about 5 percent of the Democrat vote when he was running:    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/12/17/opinion/polls/main589167.shtml

Score one for Al.   :)

Ron Paul will quit either before or shortly after New Hampshire.  He isn't even on the radar.

I'm not impressed with the field of candidates in either party, but right now it looks like Giuliani, Romney, and Thompson for the Republicans and Hillary, Obama, and Edwards for the Democrats.  One of those will probably be our next president.  :-\

That's a republican mistake because he is the only republican candidate that has the potential to steal votes from the left.  If you're lining up Hillary against Ron Paul, no republicans would cross over to vote Hillary, but I guarantee there would be a faction of dems, pissed off at being ignored who will like what Paul says and stick it to their party with a vote for Ron.  Also some would look at it as a chance to not only stick it to dems, but change the direction of the republican party to one where they feel is less,... dangerous.  Where the war is concerned, you'll find more people on the left liking what comes out of Ron's mouth than what comes out of Hillary's mouth.  I think we have the sense that Hillary will continue the Team America World Police Policy, but Ron sure doesn't seem like he would.  And for fuck shit sake, I can't fathom traditional conservative republicans wouldn't be taking the opportunity to nip the neocon cabal of their party in the ass.  Ron Paul would most certainly be an m-50 up the ass of the neocons and that has both left and rightwing appeal.  (pretend you know my definition of neocon just for argument sake :D)

Here's a question, assuming Ron Paul has no chance in hell to win would you consider voting for a democrat to keep the other republican candidates from winning?

For myself, I'll vote dem.  I might consider a vote for someone like Ron Paul, but if not him or someone like him, forget it.  The republicans have gone above and beyond, I'm not going to aid them in any way.  I would consider a vote for Ron Paul as a means of changing the direction of the republican party.  Help pull them out of hell.
