Reggie Miller to Boston?
« on: August 08, 2007, 03:49:34 PM »
Thats what I heard.  Paraphrasing... " We need a guy on the floor for that last minute. A shooter. A guy who can make key free throws. Eat up some minutes".  Danny said something along the lines of that quote.

I guess Miller is working two a days in LA and will decide soon.

Body, he's 42 years old and almost two seasons removed since his last game.

AND he's thinking of wearing another jersey other than than the only team he has ever played for?

If it happens, don't expect major contributions. I mean, how many minutes can he possibly average per game until his legs go? He'll be icing his knees during timeouts for fuck's sake.

He won't contribute dick to the Celtics if comes out of retirement.

No legs.

If he wants to shoot some free throws or take some shots I think he would be worth a spot! Just reporting what I heard, and what Danny said. I know Miller is old. I dont think the Celtics are banking on him to help out in a huge way.

He would be a good role player.  Can't play defense though.  That will be the primary problem with this team.

Give Allen a rest, or maybe get in there to take some shots in the last min's. I agree that he could be a good role player.

Thing with Reggie, his bodyweight is light, so despite his age, his body shouldn't have aged that much.

Heavier guys age much faster generally (Hi Mailman!! >:()

I'm laughing at all the Celtics fans who think Garnett and Allen are going to be their saviours. Garnett is no longer the player he used to be. Chris Bosh schools him every time the T-Wolves played the Raptors. And the bench weakness along with salary cap restrictions mean that the Allen, Pierce, and Garnett are going to have to log alot of minutes.

Nonetheless I'm going to enjoy watching my Raptors destroy them this coming season!  ;D

Say what??? How is Garnett not the player he used to be? I need you to explain this, holmes but you don't know what you're talking about. For the third straight year he led the league in rebounding while averaging over 22 points a game. Shit, Garnett would avergae over 28 a game if he wasn't so unselfish. He's the ultimate team player, bottom line. He's still in the tail end of his prime years and easily one of the top 3 best overall players in the game TODAY.

Chris Bosh is no where on the level that Garnett is, dude. (even though he's extremely talented)In fact, Bosh will be the next big name player to high tail out of Toronto a la Mcgrady, Carter. What black guy wants to play basketball in Toronto anyway? The athletes get the shit taxed out of them in Canada and the weather sucks balls 85% of the year.

Garnett is still a good player, but there's no argument that his prime was wasted in Minnesota.

Reggie can't play a full season, nor does he need to.  He was always one of my favorite players, but just like MJ, these age 40+ 'comebacks' are just ridiculous.

Can he still shoot?  I'm sure he can.  But if Boston finds itself in a spot next post-season when they need a 3 to force OT, then Garnett better be kicking it out to Allen or Pierce for the shot.

I agree with you on all counts, dude. They say that a typical NBA players' prime years, regardless of position, are between the ages of 28-32 years old. He still puts up impressive all around numbers so I believe he's still in his prime.

We'll see.

While they are at it maybe they can call Magic, Kareem, MJ,Larry Bird, and Clyde Drexler because i'm sure they could contribute to the game also.. ::)  also did anything happen with the Scottie Pippen deal? i know his broke kneed ass wanted to come out of retirement to play again..They should even consider talking to Dennis "The Worm" Rodman..that right there is about 15 rebounds a game for sure!

Hahaha trust me Garnett is not in the top 3. The best player is Steve Nash. Followed by Kobe. Then Dirk. Then Duncan...Garnett is probably in the top 15. And without a bench Boston will be pathetic. Look at the depth that Toronto has. And if I'm not mistaken not only did our GM (Colangelo) win Executive of the Year this year so did Sam Mitchell as Coach of the Year. Do you really think Doc Rivers is a good coach because he's not. He's in the bottom 5. Bosh isn't going anywhere. He signed a long term extension along with his buddy TJ Ford. Stick to Football. But don't worry New England is going to win it all this year!  ;D

P.S. Baltimore sucks. Trust me I've been there several times. It's a small, crummy city. You finally have a Four Seasons going up (whose World HQ) is based in Toronto. Hahaha that makes it one 5 star hotel you have...and we have more than 5!!! Not to mention Toronto is the fifth biggest city in North America. Baltimore's airport is also a piece of shit! The weather in Toronto is just like New York's except Toronto gets less winter storms. Our women are hotter....need I say more.  ;D

Visually speaking....

I've seen better looking cities than Baltimore.

But......

Fuck you. Go Ravens!

Maybe one day Canada gets an NFL franchise.

Sike!

i think to be the best player you have to play defense too?
theres no doubt that the top 2 guys in the league are kobe and duncan, no one else is close to these guys, nash is a great playmaker and would be top 5 in the league right now but no way number one

Toronto has five 5 star hotels and yet all of Canada has less MRI machines than the state of Pennsylvania. Talk about getting your priorities straight! My poor old mother in law has to travel thousands of miles from Fort St. John to Vancouver to get proper medical treatment.

Miller does the usual pre-camp training every year - even after retirement.

I don't think this one means much, but who knows.
