Anyone who follows Russian politics knows that Putin & co. don't embrace democracy to the full unless it comes with financial benefits.

This is a good story about how Russia  deals with political dissidents by classifying unsanctioned speech as a mental disease.

All of this is kinda under the radar.. Isn't Russia going through huge economic expansion? Nothing like the Russia of 10 years back.

Maybe democracy will fall into place? Sometimes you need strong arm thug tactics to set things right.

Russia is reverting into a totalitarian regime and it's not under the radar. Ten years back. oligarchs were looting the country. Now, it's Putin and his cronies. He is systematically cutting opposition off at the news and using strong arm tactics to enrich his allies.

The Yorkos scandal was just one of the most publicized incidents. The way it was covered here differed from the way it actually happened.
