Fanny packs are just another thing that makes bodybuilding unique I suppose. It contributes to the stereotype and gives the "sport" an identity.

It's like tennis players always wearing sweatbands I guess. Well, not out and about on the street, but you know what I mean.

In the summertime, I wear mainly board shorts. While they're light and comfortable, they usually only have one small pocket. So, the fanny pack picks up the slack. It's strictly for a practical purpose. I'm too old to make fashion statements.

For a pro bber, I guess it would be a good place to keep syringes and bottles.

Alot of them wear spandex pants that dont have pockets..so they wear a fanny pack, I guess.

I use a fanny pack because the locker room at my gym was broken into and I do not want people to steal my stuff. I put my wrist wraps, keys, lifting straps and wallet in it.

Blame Gary Strydom...trend started in eighties when everyone wore his stupid Crazee Wear baggies to church, work, bars, dates, and oh yeah, workouts. Damn pockets hung down to your knees and evertything fell out of them.

heh, I'm not even big and know why...cuz when ur legs get too big, it sux to put stuff in your pants pockets because it's hard to get it out...and it looks stoopid with your keys/wallet/etc all poking out on your leg (or ass if you put your wallet in your back pocket)...and can hurt if your keys dig into your leg when you sit down in a car or whatever.

...some day I'll be privileged enough to have to wear one...

Good question to spotlight all the tiny-tits on the board...

I suggest moving to the 'other side' of the tracks, G. I used to go to this gym called 'Jamal's Gym' which used to be at the intersection of Crenshaw and Compton. My locker always get be broken into and shit...so I left.
