Levrone squatting?
« on: August 12, 2007, 03:53:24 AM »
Any of you guys seen pics or vids of levrone squatting?
you only see leg presses in Full Blown and the M3 vid.

I know he suffered a back injury in 95 or sometime around then and he could do 600 for 8-10 reps.

anyone seen vids or pics and can comment on his squatting stance and depth?

Because I'd like to get an idea of his strength compared to Coleman's. Coleman's squats are medium wide stance and a deal over parallel.
Levrone was a strong presser, and so I wonder what his squats looked like.

and frankly I draw more inspiration from bodybuilding training than powerlifting training.

all i can find is this, btw.

but that may just be staged for the photoshoot.

Whatever Kevin did for his legs it certainly worked well. In M3 I say hacks, exts,, and some very heavy leg presses. Dorian stopped squatting early in his career in preference to hacks and presses too. Its safer to not squat alot when your legs become too powerful for your lower back.

he did over 700lbs (720lbs or so) for a few reps in the squat in the early 90s.

yeah he had great form and a close stance (abit wider than the pic tho) and went deep (thats how he got the great hamstrings he used to have +quads).

Yeah..

thanks for answering.
so his form was different than the pics...shoulder width stance?

what video did you see, btw? it's not in full blown or m3.

I think levrone is pretty inspirational - killer physique and legs (atleast before his back injury).

Don't think so. I have a whole bunch of FLEXs spanning the whole 90s (from 93 on) and maybe even 2000, 01 and 02. I was talking about scanning images from them

Kiwiol,

check out
Flex Oct 1992 (if you have it)
Flex Aug 1993,

both feature levrone leg training articles.. if it all possible, scan the images where he squats (IF he squats in those magazines..I'd assume he does).

You'd be doing me a huge favor.

I'll have a look dude. I used to buy them in Australia back when I was living there and the Aussie editions had lesser content than the US versions which I'd buy from time to time when I was flying out.

So I'll look into it and scan them if I come across them.

I haven't done anything yet, so don't get too ahead of yourself ;D. I'll do what I can mate - I don't remember having any pics of him squatting, although there are a couple of pics from circa 93. Gimme a couple of weeks or so

 :D

well if there are any, they should be in oct. 1992 and aug. 1993...that is, in the american version. so it's only 2 magazines you'd have to look through.

but then again if you have a 1000 magazines then finding those 2 is a task in itself.

i believe it.

he is the strongest documented bber presser and his legs used to be huge, so why not?

I just saw his latest pic, hes down to 140 pounds.  I doubt he could squat 115 pounds right now, and he certainly couldnt bench more than 85 pounds.

It must be those "superior genetics", not the drugs    ::)

Can't say anything about Kevin's style, but his 'fan' Earl's style is to simply squat in front of K Lo so former's mouth is aligned roughly 6 inches below the navel of latter
