I am a MD.  Tell your derm that you use AAS.  Accutane is pretty harsh on your liver, and greatly elevate your cholesterol and TGs.  Also, there is a pretty real risk of depression and suicide has been linked to it (I am not saying this will make you kill yourself, but just to keep in mind in someone comming on an AAS cycle).  Instead ask your derm for Clindamycin solution, and oral doxycyline 100 mg po twice a day (it is anti-bacterial plus anti-inflammatory).  Also, start washing your chest with panoxyl bar (OTC, benzoly peroxide 6%)--it can bleach your clothes so be carefull.  This acne is hormonal and should start to go away in a few weeks.

Nice to have some more Medical Prof input....
IME "Telling my Family Practice Dr about AAS use"  was not beneficial in any way...
All I got was a lot of bullshit to threats from a guy with clearly Zero knowledge on the subject.

Definatly leave the accutane alone, severe sides on that and like the last poster says, can cause suicidal tendencies. The obvious cause here is the gear ur on, and it will go, maybe loosen up on the dairy for a while.

And by the way, accutane can dry up the joints, which is all u need. I know i took it years ago, and it hurt when i got back training, took a long while to build up again. Found out later that is was dairy that was causing the acne, if i drink a whey protein now i get the biggest freakin lump come up in less than 2 days! and im 48!

well heres my 2 cents on accutane.
Ive used it three times so far and they say it should be used once.
im 34 yearse old and done 3 cycles so far.
my 1st time using accutane was the typical 14 year old acne problem.
and I had it BAD!!!! my doctor never seen a case like mine. he called it cistic acne and it got so bad that there was about two weeks I could barely open my mouth to eat. it was one huge scab that covered my face. im not bullshittin....
I cant remember what mg dose per day I took back then was but within a couple of weeks it started to dry me out. and clear me up.

my 1st cycle (age 30) was a mild one with testroprim-D and some D-bol.
and I broke out pretty bad on my chest and back.

2nd and 3rd cycles (age 31 then 33)  were a little higher dosed and with them i ran accutane with them like this.

2nd cycle after d-bol of 4 weeks I ran a 10 mg accutane tab once a day.
its was enough to keep me from breaking out.

3rd cycle after a bombs of 4 weeks i ran a 20 mg accutane tab a day.

I alwasy was worried about my liver enzymes but they always checed out good befor i started my cycle.
and i use milk thistle during entire cycle.

do a little research ask a few more questions and be careful not to over due it.
I have heard so many horror stories bout accutane but I still used it and will again.
with my next cycle coming up.
good luck. LATER

Im not positive about the depression side effects with gear AND accutane but Ill tell you this.
I have battled depression half my life.and never taken a drug for it. I have just delt with on my own and my depression has NEVER gotten worse while I was ON!!!!!!!!

but everyone is different. TAKE CARE.

If you tell your Derm that you are on AAS he will NOT give you accutane, he will tell you to come off AAS because THAT is what is causing the acne.

Accutane is for people who have acne not related to AAS. i wouldn't suggest running Accutane while on steroids, it defeats the purpose. as soon as you come off AAS your acne will go away. why stress your body and liver more than necessary?

Thanks for the input worm.  I didn't tell my derm about the aas use because i feared that he would just tell me to lay off of it and then my acne would go away, but i've been off it for about 12 weeks now.  i'm very open about it with my regular doc because she's cool about it but this derm i don't trust.  i'm very selective about what i say to who.

So the derm put me on Predisone & Minocycline with some spray stuff called Clobex and that's actually seemed to reduce everything quite a bit.  The redness is subsiding and the itching is going away and all the 'sores' have slowed drastically.  So i got a call from him asking why i hadn't gotten any bloodwork yet for the Accutane so i went into see him today and told him that i was skeptical of the Accutane due to the harsh sides and that the stuff he has me on now is working.

I showed him how much better it looks and he STILL wants me to take Accutane!  He says that i'll have scarring and stuff if i don't.  At this point if i don't take it he's not gonna give me anymore Predisone & Minocycline when i run out so what should i do?  I use Proactive on my face twice a day, think if i start washing my chest with that i can get away without having to do the Accutane?
Pop Drop & Squat it

how old is your derm?

The prednisone calms the inflammation and that is ok.  However, the clobex is a class 1 steroid (strongest ever) and may worsen acne. Minocycline is great for acne, but side effect include pigment deposisits in acne areas, and quite phototoxic (makes you very sensitive to the sun).  Long term use of minocycline can cause hepatitis too.

heres what i would do: get benzoyl peroxide (panoxyl bar, or this is what proactive is) and wash twice a day with.  continue with the minocycline, but stay out of the sun.  no need to take prednisone long term (corticosteroid induced acne happens a lot, but usually long term).  then stop the clobex and use clindamycin solution.  just tell your derm u refuse accutane (he cannot force u) and you want clindamycin solution.  your acne is going to clear up fine, just a matter of a few more weeks.  don't scrub too much, and don;t pick, you shouldn;t scar.
you are gay.

I'm surprised no one has suggested pantothonic acid aka b-5.

Take 3-4k mg's per day and you'll see a difference in a week.  It won't work as good as accutane but it will reduce the acne by 50 % or more. I always use it during and after a test cycle.

some derms do give vitamins, mainly niacin and the B-vits.  just take a multivitamin.
