Federal prosecutors have offered Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick a deal that includes a recommendation that he serve at least one year in prison on felony dogfighting conspiracy charges, the Virginian-Pilot reported today.

The fallen NFL star, who has been charged with violating federal dogfighting laws, has been considering a possible plea deal since Wednesday. Vick reportedly has until Friday at 9 a.m. to decide whether he will agree to the deal.

Vick has delayed his decision, because he is waiting to hear back from the NFL as to how a guilty plea would affect his NFL career, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Vick is the only defendant left in the case that has not yet agreed to a plea deal. Tony Taylor, 34, pleaded guilty and accepted a deal last month. Quantis Phillips, 28, and Purnell Peace, 35, are expected to accept plea deals when they appear in court Friday.

All three men reportedly have agreed to testify against Vick.

Meanwhile, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said he will wait until the NFL concludes its own investigation into the allegations to decide Vick's fate.

Earlier this week, the NFL denied information posted in a report on Yahoo Sports stating that Vick had been suspended from the upcoming regular season. So far, Vick has been banned only from attending the Falcon's training camp.

While visiting the Detroit Lions Thursday, Goodell also said that Vick and the dogfighting scandal is not "overshadowing the season."

"We're going to do what we always said we were going to do, which is rely on the facts," Goodell said. "If there is some type of a plea agreement, then we will obviously take the time to understand what that plea is, and we'll see how it fits into our personal conduct [policy]."

If Vick does not agree to a deal, prosecutors have said they plan to bring more charges against him and will hand down a superseding indictment later in the month.

Vick could still make a deal with respect to these additional charges, but prosecutors are likely to be less lenient the second time around.

You do realize Vick is on record telling the press that it was them and he had no idea and the cops should do what they need to do, but he had no part of it?

different situation. - I get your point and your motives in doing so. BUT all of these people were involved with it. If you are going to use your example you wouldn't be involved with the act. These people are all looking to get out of the situation they are in and they plead guilty and blamed it on Vick.

I look at them as rats, they got the pins put into them and coughed up it's all Michael Vick. All the while they were involved, they can say whatever the prosecutor wants now.

At first and obviously vick's defence was deniability.

Also it isn't as if these people went to police during the time of the dog fighting, the spilled the beans after they got busted. they aren't good samaritans. If these people went before hand then ok but they didn't

Had it not been for the white man's money, which supports the hefty salaries of the top NFL pros, Vick would be doing what exactly? Torturing animals to death and probably young, white females now and then.

It is amusing how great these NFL stars think they are. How they struggled so hard to pull themselves up out of the ghetto into fame and fortune. In reality, the entire NFL is funded >90% by nerdy white guys who buy products, tickets, and sport packages on TV in order to see the NFL games on Mon, Thur, Sat, Sunday. The tax payers pay for the stadiums as well. The "discipline" required to be a pro in the NFL today consist of man whoring, smoking pot, roids when you can, and playing wannabe gangsta.

Without these little money makers (white men who provide funding/tax revenue) watching the sport the players would make nothing. Just like 99% of probodybuilders.

Well said my friend. Not that they can't behave because they can. Personally, I believe it mainly the ones in America who are the worst due to a variety of factors. All races have a barbaric side buried within them. Blacks just have to fight much, much harder to repress the barbarian within themselves. And those who do overcome it, more power to you.
