Do not threaten the life of the president on this forum

If you're that stupid, we don't need you posting here or make any posts that suggest his early departure from this realm.  Only warning, you will be banned from this forum for doing this.

I wacked the comment.  The person who did it knows what he did.  Even if you live in another country, don't make comments like that here.  It's not unheard of for everyone in the conversation to get visits and I'm sure everyone here has better things to do with their time.

People who make comments in a forum threatening the life of the president get a visit from the authories?   This has happened?

I've heard of it...I also believe its against the law to do so...Someone would have to be out of their fcking gord to do so...esp/with the patriot act ect...

I guess,  it's just hard to believe that of the thousands of forums or even millions of forums that this one would be one where a real threat would be placed.  Makes sense though.

doesn't any president literally get thousands of death threats a day?

I recall reading about some preteen girl who made some comment on her myspace page to that effect, and the feds rolled up to her junior high and hauled her off for "questioning".

I must say, no offense meant to anyone even though I realize this sounds rather rude, but I find it somewhat ironic things like that occur, as well as even a general posting like this occur in a nation that constantly mentions their "freedoms".

it seems to me that at least part of you want to believe one side of a story. why?

no one gets hauled off w/o "good cause."  there is accountability . . . sometimes, it's not the kind of accountability that would be ideal, but there is accountability.

Well, I just know what I read on like the Yahoo news site, I confess to not forging off with my packed high-protein lunch in search of any deeper truths :D

I really don't see any just cause in feds arriving at a junior high school and hauling off a kid for a kiddy-post on their myspace page in a nation that prides itself on their freedom of speech. I can't recall the exact quote, but I recall it a was a real kid type post something along the lines of "well if the president wants everyone to go to war, he should have to go there too and maybe a bomb would hit him and he would die and he wouldnt like it so much". Something like that....

This can't be the first you've heard of it, there are dozens of stories exactly like that and several of them have only been kids blowing off steam in a forum or myspace page.  Even radio show hosts being questioned for what a caller called in about where the caller made suggestions that could be taken that way.

anyone who makes such statements should not be shocked if they do get hauled off for questioning.  From what I've read, anywhere from hours to a full day and I think I've heard of someone who yelled at Cheney being held longer than a day, but i'm not for sure, remember hearing it on the radio.

You better watch it now, this post could be interpreted as an indirect threat. ::)

FWIW, I think the military intelligence needs to study the extremist groups, read their literature, and understand their whole socio-cultural background, their history, everything.

Instead of using their own parameters for interpreting what is a threat.

Get inside the head of the dangerous elements. Understand them. Then they can be stopped.

As empty as paradise

This is no joke. An NCO in our office in Afganistan got involved in something like that off of myspace. His buddy was joking around, stationed in the States, made a threat. This other guy was a Marine Gunny. I had to send my guy to Kabul to talk to some folks.

I also look at this warning in this forum this way... This political forum is a privilege.  Ron does not have to give us this space to talk politics and it can be taken away at his discression.  I don't know how he would feel if he had to spend time answering questions about forum members.  It would be pretty fucked up for those who enjoy posting here to lose all this because some guy couldn't hold his tongue on something like this.  I know people are pissed at this president, me too!  But you can't even suggest that kind of stuff here, at a minimum out of respect to those who enjoy posting here.

I certainly don't want him dead but I want Bush and Cheney out of office. Hopefully the dictatorship that is the current administration won't start arresting people for posting such thoughts.

And before you scoff who would have thought anyone would get arrested for wearing an anti-Bush t-shirt?
