The Pick-Up Artist...
« on: August 17, 2007, 08:53:20 AM »
The VH1 series, THE PICK-UP ARTIST, is a tale of transformation. For these eight lovable losers, "socially awkward" is the understatement of the year. And when it comes to this lonely hearts club, desperate times call for desperate measures. Enter Mystery, best-selling author and ultimate pick-up artist--a former nerd from the Great White North who has discovered the secret to wooing women. Under his expert tutelage, he'll guide this group of hapless horndogs through the rough waters of romance and help them find the courage to overcome their biggest fear--talking to women.

In THE PICK-UP ARTIST, eight misfits will live together, learn together and love together as they compete for the title of "Master Pick-Up Artist." Over the course of eight episodes, the men will learn the ins and outs of the Mystery Method-- "how to open a set," "the number close" and "the kiss close" among others. Aided by his faithful wingmen, Matador and J Dog, Mystery will teach these average guys how to turn the women of their dreams into the women of their reality.

But this seduction school isn't confined the classroom. After each lesson, Mystery's awkward apprentices will put theory into practice, hitting bars, clubs and coffee houses in an attempt to make a love connection. Via hidden cameras, Mystery is always watching to see who's got potential and who's got to go.

In each episode, one contestant will be declared the winner of a challenge and granted immunity from elimination, while one sad sack will be sent packing. At the end of the eight weeks, one winner will be named "Master Pick-Up Artist" and awarded $50,000.

They may not all win the prize, but every pick-up protégé departs with the tools he'll need to change his life forever.

Who will rise to the occasion? Who will crack under the pressure? And who will become...The Pick-Up Artist?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ladies, I ask your opinion.  If one of these gentlemen approached you and tried to get YOU to buy them a drink (as that is what they tried to teach the students in the first episode), would you?  Do you find either of these 3 men attractive enough to be called a "Master Pick-Up Artist"?  Cuz that is their "title".
I tried to watch part of this show and think it may be a joke on Reality Shows.  The winner not only gets 50,000.00 but is supposedly going to "travel the world" with these other 3 and help men w/their "game" or lack thereof.  It can't be real!  Can it?
1.  I might buy them a drink because I'd figure they must have lost their wallet or something and couldn't buy their own but that would more than likely be the end of the interaction.
2.  I am not physically attracted to any of them.
Is it really such a big achievement to get a woman you don't know to buy you a drink?
Is that really so difficult to ask? And if the woman says no, would that be a problem?
Seems like a lot of drama about nothing. I would never ask such a question, nor would I give any woman a drink. Unless their starving they can buy their own.
Ladies.................. ........i have learned so much from "MYSTERY",i have learned the "two -set" (a pair of girls ripe for the picking)
the "3 -bagger" (self explanatory)
the "jewlery check" (look at a womans rings/jewlery to see if she has money)
the "sink hole wish" after you have sex with the girl from the bar you wish a big sinkhole would open up and take her away
all in all...............a very informative show!
I agree.  Scott Baio is amusing and down to earth.  Definitely has some issues with the opposite sex and better get that into check before he gets too old, lol.   ;D
I too dislike Heidi and Spencer.  He is a controlling ass and she is so stupid for following his controlling ass.  I am sure she has seen all of last season's episodes and knows Lauren was telling the truth, but still seems blind.   ::)
According to this weeks "In Touch"  8), Heidi and Spencer only walked down the red carpet for the Hills party to have pics taken, then left before the rest of the cast got there.  They are not sure if their will be a season 4.
Actually I would like to punch Spencer  ;D
 Didn't Heidi watch last season when Spencer was talking to Brody and Brody was saying something about not having 'guys' nights or about being his wing man or something, and Spencer said they were still on, what Heidi didn't know wouldn't hurt her?
  And if Heidi doesn't think that LC watched the episode where Heidi told whatsherface to go after Brody(?) it was her birthday and why not, then denied encouraging whatsherface, she must be stupid.
they were both towards the end.  The Spencer one was right after he asked her to move in with him.
 he's just seems shady, or that is how he comes across on the show, they both seem kind of stiff with each other, but that could be because their is a camera on them.
That is a great show and those guys need a lot of help being less intimidated. Some of the advice they are are being given is silly but maybe people need a system if they're too shy.
As far as their looks go, men don't need to be good looking to get women. Women seem more responsive to confidence than looks after the initial conversation gets going.
What's wrong with women buying men drinks?
You're right, men don't have to be good looking to get "most" women, but I can tell you that those 3 men...come across as arrogant and not confident.  And if any of them were to approach me in a bar (single or not) I would not welcome them because of their arrogance and "style".
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with buying men drinks..but did you see how they asked (for lack of better words) women to get them drinks?  There is no way in hell that show isn't scripted.
They claim the people at the bar are not actors. Not quite the same as saying it's not scripted. So much of the stuff the girls fell for was silly and women were throwing themselves at those bony, goth wannabes.
I'm of a mind that really smooth guys have already gone away with the digits or a date before women realize what happened.
Women seem to like buying drinks in my original area. Maybe they're a little bit more liberated or want to show off. Once a girl offered to buy me a drink and I said "no, you might expect me to put out". She laughed, said I was safe and got the drink. I put out anyways but didn't feel obligated. :)
As I stated on MY THREAD that I started about this show (ahem ;D). They previewd the end of the  show and the blonde supposedly develops a strong pimp hand with the ladies//
Although how many women you fall for a dude named "Mystery" who weres ski googles (that was out back in 1997) and eyeliner? Confidence is one thing, a gimmick is another. Reminds of that MTV show Rob and Big, most of these dudes were cooler than Rob
