trueprotein.com - Supplement revolution?
« on: August 24, 2007, 07:58:44 PM »
TrueProtein.com allows you to build your own custom supplements. I've reproduced "CellTech" like creatine formula and "NO exploderz" for a fraction of the price. Their Whey isolate Ion-exchange is $9.89/lb. Their L-GLutamine is $16.55/lb (Prolab is $39.99). Kick-ass business model too. Same day shipping and I got my stuff the following morning (ok I live 15 miles from their place but still).

They even have my favorite "putting some lead in your pencil" Macca root in bulk for peanuts.

Flame all you want on supplements, you can't deny the basics; they have it and you can mix it any way you want. Why would you pay for containers, marketing and distribution when you know what you need and don't need to learn it from a Muscletech guy painted in Purple or yellow in the centerfold of a magazine....

Brilliant idea! To further reduce work for themselves over the long run, they should put out 'formulas' for Mass building, Creatine loading / cycling, Glutamine-rich etc and link it to the service so customers who don't know how much of each they need can simply order the mix they want

In which case you should pioneer and start the same thing where you live ;)

Alex, do you know them personally? Ask them if they're interested in tapping into the far away NZ market. I got a guy here who would be keen to use that business model here. If you don't, no worries, I'll email them myself

Very cool idea but they need to work on the interface and measuring. For example, if I want each serving of my mix to contain 5g creatine, I have to do all the math manually to figure out how many servings/lb and then how many grams per serving based on a friggen percentage (only in increments of 5 too) to figure out what percentage of creatine I need to add to my mix.

uh no

And they don't help you out even if you guess. So I put 5% creatine...guessing maybe 5% is all I need to get 5g per serving in a lb (?? dunno, no clue) but the Suppliment Facts bar at the right doesn't update w/ something like: "Creatine        XXmg"...it just says at the top "Your Custom Mix Ingredients: Creatine". Not helpful, I still have to do all the math.

I wanna be able to say:
In 1 serving, I want:
--30g dextrose
--30g whey
--5g creatine
--5g glutamine

then say I want 40 servings

then have them say...ok, that's 5lbs and 1 serving is going to be 2.25 scoops...or whatever...

They did it backwards... ::)

Awesome concept but it could be a tad more user friendly.  They do realize the average gym rat is not that good with numbers right?

Yeah I bump this for trueprotien as well and if they sponsor your forums they give each member a discount code. You can setup your shit the way you want it. If you just want regular whey it's dirt cheap. Want to make some shit to fit YOUR needs it's not any more expensive than buying it anyplace else.

Their buzzsaw pre workout drink is good stuff too!

Good idea, but as others have stated there should be defined options.

I would like this mix:

50 grams Vitargo or Malto
30 grams whey or cassein
10 grams creatine
10 grams essential amino acids
5 grams glutamine
Here comes the money shot

His stuff is still cheaper then. His amount of protein is also higher being 100% of the actual weight (flavor is not significant)

I would like this mix:

50 grams Vitargo or Malto
30 grams whey or cassein
10 grams creatine
10 grams essential amino acids
5 grams glutamine

Rounded up that's:

47% Vitargo or Malto
28% grams whey or cassein
10% grams creatine
10% grams essential amino acids
5% grams glutamine

Aren't you a software engineer?  8)

Garraeth, SteelePegasus, agree with you I though the same but there is so only so much you can do with ASP... They're still the only one out there who do it that well so far.
