Pictures of Jesus, Idoltry?
« on: August 27, 2007, 05:48:43 PM »
Didn't god say, "There shall be no engraving images of me", and if Jesus represent God (one and the same) then isn't pictures and statues and figurines of Jesus s form of Idoltry?

One of the reasons why Muslim get upset over drawings of Mohammed is because from my understanding there is supposed to be no engraving image of the Prophet.

I aslo believe that we don't know what Jesus looked like, and putting a face on him has cause debate on whether he was of European descent or a person of color (Most Scholars do believe he was person of color from the middle eastern region, looking much like the people in Palestine today, and not European).

So because of that, Muslims have a peace of mind, because there is no discussion on what Mohammed looked like, he is merely a Prophet, the Prophet of Islam.

Only if you worship the pictures or statues.  No different than having any other artwork IMO.

However, as a true believer, and obedient child of God, ...doesn't his word make YOUR opinion irrelevant?
