Nearly 6,000 marijuana plants seized on Kauai

By Peter Boylan
Advertiser Staff Writer

Nearly 6,000 marijuana plants with a street value of $5.9 million have been seized on Kaua'i, state and federal law enforcement officials announced this morning.

The "largest outdoor growing operation ever prosecuted in Hawai'i" was discovered at the foot of Mount Wai'ale'ale in the area referred to as the "Blue Hole."

Five people, including a convicted federal felon, have been arrested and charged with manufacturing with intent to distribute more than 1,000 marijuana plants as a part of "Operation Green Stream."

Arrested on Kauai Friday were Edward H. Holland, 55; Mark Steven Darling, 52; Robert Jason Bihm, 28; Melissa Ann Bihm, 27; and Ryan Edward Bihm, 23.

All but Holland face between 10 years and life in prison if convicted.

Holland was arrested and convicted in 1991 with possessing with intent to distribute 97 pounds of marijuana. He served four years in federal prison.

Because of his prior federal drug conviction, Holland faces between 20 years and life in prison.

The group is set to appear in federal court at 3 p.m. today.

How about  treating those with cancer, multiple scelerosis, and glaucoma to name a few.

Needs to be rescheduled, and the referenda of it's oppositon for the feds has got to come to a conclusion.

5.9 millions how in the hell did they come up with that number? WTF. Divided it into joints I guess, lol.

Feds scared docs away with the compassionate use in 1992, so now the only option is for people to go underground, pretty sad.

Bum you may need it later on when your opthamologist says the constant computer porn has caused pressure from your penis to travel to your eyes, lol.

Jethro,

When did you stop beating your wife (or husband--not sure if you are a man or woman)?

Been clean for three weeks.. Since they test for it, I don't want the trouble of asking for someone's clean piss, then putting it in a vial, which would of course be wrapped in a heating pad.

Bum,

It's a simple question and relevent to the topic which YOU posted.   According to an October 2002 Time/CNN poll, nearly half of Americans (47 percent) have smoked pot at least once.

What's your problem in answering a simple question

Nice Camel.  Congrats.  Is this just to get ready for a drug test or are you quitting?

Get a copper penny rub your fingers with it real hard and dabble the piss, or get a ammonium product and soak the liner of your pants with it, and dab your finger in the piss cup, it will default the test. This is a worst case scenario, though, they can also test and see if you added ammonia to it if it comes up to placid. There are more false negatives than false positives just a fyi.

Also have you tried niacin, and dandelion root yet? 18 days have cleared so your out of the woods bro.

I've never beat my wife - see how easy it is to answer a question.

Also, my question was actually relevent to the topic and was presented in a way that was not presumptious.

Let's try again.

Have you ever smoked pot?

Quitting? hahahahaha teh funny! More like a long sabbatical.

Opportunities can pop up anywhere. I'm not taking a drug test or anything now, but you never know.

But next year I could be doing an internship or real work for that matter. I don't want to go begging people for urine, or ordering crap online that might fail. The clean urine in a vial, with a heat pad is almost fool proof though, granted that person is really clean. But like I said, it's sort of embarassing and makes you look like a fool.

Strawman, I'll answer for old Bum. Bet you he was blazing mowie wowie in his day.

I guess you didn't notice the word "MAN" in my name

Why are you so scared to answer a simple question which is relevent to the topic that YOU started

HAVE YOU EVER SMOKED POT?

From your pathetic attempts to dodge the question I guess the answer must be yes

So I need to take my kudos back?   :)  It's going to be harder for you to smoke when you enter the professional world.  Kick the habit mang.  You don't want to get caught up in the lingering Reagan war on drugs.  Don't become a statistic.  Too much going for you.  But I won't start preaching to you.   :)

lolololol!!   :D  Even my little ones don't try that tactic.  As they would say:  "lame."

So you're an admitted criminal/pothead and you're frustrated because I won't answer a stupid question?  lol.  Try again Jethro.  You are all alone on this one, admitted criminal.  :-*

I'm also glad law enforcement is cracking down on admitted criminals (like you):

Operation Green Stream is indicative of a growing trend. In 2006, 1.7 million plants grown on federal or state lands were destroyed, totaling $6.7 billion in street value.

State and federal officials also conduct an annual Operation Green Harvest, in which they seize several marijuana plants being grown on public lands. Officials did not have statistics on those busts immediately available.

"This type of blatant illegal activity demands federal attention, and it is our desire to keep them where they are right now, in our federal detention center," Kubo said.

Bum,

Your stupidity is showing again

There are plenty of legal ways to smoke pot

The question is why you're too much of a pussy to just tell the truth

if you've never smoked then why not just say so??

Bum,

I don't grow it, I don't sell it and I don't possess it so once again you've got your head firmly up your ass.

The only thing I've ever admitted is that I will occassionally smoke just like I will occassionally drink some wine.

Perhaps I only smoke it when I'm on vacation in Canada or Amsterdam.  Perhaps my doctor has given me a prescription which I occassionaly use.

Who are you to judge anyone?   You're so filled with shame that you can't even admit to your own actions and instead have to log onto message boards and cluck around like a mother hen telling everyone how to live their lives.

Bottom line - you're more likely to get busted cruising for gay sex in the men's room than I am for smoking an occassional joint

BTW - HAVE YOU EVER SMOKED POT??

Just say no Jethro:

"Just Say No" was a television advertising campaign, part of the US "War on Drugs" and prevalent during the 1980s and early 1990s, to discourage children from engaging in recreational drug use by offering various ways of saying "NO". Eventually, this also expanded the realm of "Just Say No" to violence, premarital sex, and any other vices that young people might try. The slogan was created and championed by former First Lady Nancy Reagan during her husband's presidency.

"Just Say No" crossed over to the UK, where it was popularised by the BBC's 1986 "Drugwatch" campaign, which revolved around a heroin-addiction storyline in the popular children's TV drama serial Grange Hill. The cast's cover of the original US campaign song, with an added rap, reached the UK top ten.

The campaign made its way into popular American culture when TV shows like Diff'rent Strokes and Punky Brewster produced episodes centered around the campaign. In 1987 La Toya Jackson became spokesperson for the campaign and recorded a song entitled "Just Say No" with British hit producers Stock/Aitken/Waterman, but changes in her public persona to a sexier style over the next few years limited her further involvement in the campaign.

The campaign drew some criticism for underestimating the drug use in America and reducing its solution to a catch phrase. No significant reduction in the use and trafficking of illegal drugs was seen during the height of the campaign.  Over time, the campaign became the subject of some satire.

Ironically many of the child stars involved in the campaign, like Drew Barrymore, Corey Haim and Corey Feldman (and John Alford from Grange Hill), were at the time or later illegal drug users.

Coke is schedule II, so is Morphine, PCP, while Mophine's cousin Codine is III. Marijuana is I..

That system is a fucking joke. Schedule I is supposed to be the most dangerous. AND ALCOHOL ISN'T EVEN ON THE DAMN THING.. WHEN A BOTTLE CAN KILL YOU WITHIN AN HOUR AND CAUSES THOUSANDS OF DEATHS A YEAR.

Quote
When it comes to a drug that is currently listed in schedule I, if it is undisputed that such drug has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States and a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and it is further undisputed that the drug has at least some potential for abuse sufficient to warrant control under the CSA, the drug must remain in schedule I. In such circumstances, placement of the drug in schedules II through V would conflict with the CSA since such drug would not meet the criterion of "a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States." 21 USC 812(b).

http://www.medicalmarijuanaprocon.org/pop/govtreports.htm -- excrept:

Marijuana prohibition only began in America in the 1920s and 1930s. Up until that point, it was completely legal and few considered it a social problem. It was during the early 1900s that our culture began to view "intoxication" by drugs--including alcohol--as something we should be trying to stop. There have been many studies which show that the prohibition of marijuana actually began a steady increase in its use that continues today. Very few Americans had even heard about marijuana when it was first federally prohibited in 1937. Today, nearly 70 million Americans admit to having tried it, (from National Household Survey on Drug Abuse: Main Findings 1993, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration; Rockville, MD: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1995). We can all agree that alcohol prohibition was a failure, but our culture cannot see that the same is true with marijuana. This is especially disturbing considering that every comprehensive, objective government commission that has examined the marijuana phenomenon throughout the past 100 years has recommended that adults should not be criminalized for using marijuana. For example: Indian Hemp Drugs Commission Report, 1894; Panama Canal Zone Military Investigation, 1929; The Marihuana Problem in the City of New York (LaGuardia Committee Report), 1944; Marihuana, A Signal of Misunderstanding (Nixon-Shafer Report), 1972; An Analysis of Marihuana Policy (National Academy of Sciences), 1982; and others

God.. School was tedious today..

Gonna take 15 mg of valium and then review the present tense for my spanish exam..

Night, or morning to ya, Bum.

ps, how was the high from the mowie-wowie? Heard personally it gave a nice head buzz, nice sativa weed. My guesses were that it was brought from India/Pakistan/Afghanistan/Bangladesh/Nepal, and bred in your home state to produce good potent plants.

Jamaican cannabis was brought by Indian indentured servants, as well as early europeans for hemp and even medicinal purposes. Hell, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were avid growers, as well as brewers of whisky.
