Most of them look bigger than your average person in street clothes. Of course, you have your exceptions like the smaller leadoff hitters.

Why would baseball players take performance enhancing substances? Baseball may involve hand-eye coord. but obviously more strength helps to drive the ball. An extra 10 feet could be the difference between a homerun and a fly-out. Substances like HGH are supposed to improve recovery ability, so that's another reason considering the players play so many games. Plus, the older players take longer to heal.

its difficult to see, but many have some serious size on them.

The Big Hurt Frank Thomas, for instance, looks kind of big on the field but when I saw him on a Blue jays commercial next to normal people, I finally realized he's an absolute monster.

This is a classic capitalization meltdown but I'll play into Squadfathers game, I'm guessing he just wants to get a few more meltdowns from ex-baseball players before getting off work ( I sure wouldn't mind either).

Most baseball players take it for recovery purposes.  Remember, 162 games a year, lots of traveling and little rest puts a lot of stress on the body even if it is just baseball.  Also, if you ever meet one up close, they're usually bigger than on TV (ARod is suprisingly large in person, so was Sosa).

Baseball players don't need to be huge to hit the ball, look at Garrett Anderson of the Angels.  Some are actually really big guys but don't look it with uniforms on.  Pujols, Sosa, Bonds, McGwire, Canseco, etc are/were all big guys.  Sure they don't look like BBers but they are big dudes and stronger than the avid lifter.

If steroid use is only for building sheer size, why do so many pro cyclists use them?  Why do doctors prescribe them for patients who are actually sick?  Their sole purpose is not to put on huge amounts of muscle.  Surely people realise this?  They werent designed and constantly manufactured just for the BB community

alot of these guys are ripped, they stay below 215 pounds like Bagwell or Gabe Kapler (sp).  They are definitely juiced up they just dont bulk.

Agian you are stupid.  Answer this too.  If Steroids are around to make you big, then why don't BB have big wallets.   And it is obvious you have never met any baseball players.  There are many of them over 6' tall and plenty over 6'2"

Bonds is a big dude.  Go stand next to a Pro ball player it's humbling, they are top athletes with great genetics.  Most of them train for speed and use the drugs to recover faster.  Most are using GH anyways, better recovery.  Tendons and ligaments heal just as fast as muscles.  Steroids alone is a dead science, except in BB.  There are always teenager or diehards that won't use GH.
