I was just about caught up in a Nigerian fraud scam.. I have emails from the people and wanted to know how hard it is to track IP adresses..... Let me know if anyone can do this.. Thanks..

I would guess those IP's are nearly impossible for the average person to track. I'm sure everything was sent via multiple proxies.

They even used a legitamate companies name out of LA to put on the check.. Thank god I am no fool and took it to the Wells Fargo where the check was from and had them try to cash it.. Called the local FBI but they said it happens to often for them to care... Pure shit... Who tracked down Bezerk Fury and got all his info?

From memory, I think he was found via searches done on facebook or something similar, nothing high-tech..

The nigerians are in nigeria not the US let alone LA, they're just resourcefull in obtaining information to appear legit.. They have been doing these scams for almost 20 years.

They sent the check from LA overnight. UPS has an adress from the shipper, but it is not the same as on the package.. These guys left strings everywhere.. But the chicken shit who was emailing me won't write back now.. I told him the FBI was tracking down his IP adress. Stupid fuck' is fucked I am gonna do my best to find out who their people are in LA....

Be real careful of that. What they do often do is to send a forged check or money order for say $7000, then have you send them a Western Union for $5000. You think you've made 2 grand, but in reality, the check or money order is forged, the $7000 deposit to your account gets reversed, but you have just sent them $5 G's from your account.

yeah that's why I took it to the bank where the check was from. I do not ever deposti checks in my account except my paycheck. I cash everything else at the bank the check is from.

Check the headers on the emails to get the IP's of mail servers.

Problem is like someone mentioned is, unless they're retarded they'll be using one or more proxies.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine, they tried to buy a bike with a $3500 "cashiers check".....it was no good, when he told them the FBI were on the case, they shit themselves and sent him an email telling him he fucked up and he shouldn't do that, that they were going to file a complaint against him for ripping them off...etc...etc....he forwarded the info to the FBI and never heard from them again.

Every day, these people find a name of a company, and their legitimate bank account, and then send thousands of 'checks' to suckers who will cash it for them and send them money. They change the name of the company and bank account every few days because once the real company finds out, they put a halt to it immediately, and any legitimate person who cashed the check, the bank will then withdraw the amount from their own bank account. They get screwed either way.

Police wont do crap about it, it happens every day.

Face it people, if it is too good to be true, it is. No one will give you free money.
