« on: September 11, 2007, 06:32:10 PM »
Now i know this has been covered. i, like many use b12 with the sacue to help with my immune system. only problem is does anyone kno wan acutal SCIENTIFIC dosage you are supposed to take to really help you? What i mean is doctor reccomended dosages not just "i take " cause i usually take about 1 cc once a week with my normal pins

i have looked all over the internet but cant find a medical suggestion of mcg to help with energy and over health of b12

I was up last night for hours researching the same eact thing, and could not come up with any dosaging amount.
That is very strange.
Do you guys really like what b-12 does for you ?
I have never taken it. What should I expect ?
I am a rather lazy person, and my energy levels are a little on the low side compared to the way I used to be in my younger years.
I am not old, only 35, but my energy levels have really droped alot the last few years, so I was thinking b-12 may be the answer.
I eat right and excercise, but as soon as I get home akl I want to do is lay around the house and watch t.v.

Since B12 is water based, I wouldn't think it would last a week. All other water-based injectables must be used everyday. Why do you think you only need to take it once a week?

Calves, Swine and Sheep: 1 to 2 mL. May be repeated once or twice weekly
Adult Cattle: 1 to 2 mL per 500 pounds of body weight

i would think due to bodyweight....1 cc should suffuce for an adult human (200+lbs) a week

Title:  Cyanocobalamin low viscosity aqueous formulations for intranasal delivery
United States Patent:  7,229,636
Issued:  June 12, 2007

Vitamin B12 is a dietary essential, a deficiency of which results in defective synthesis of DNA in any cell in which chromosomal replication and division are taking place. Since tissues with the greatest rate of cell turnover show the most dramatic changes, the hematopoietic system is especially sensitive to vitamin B12 deficiencies. An early sign of B12 deficiency is a megaloblastic anemia. Dietary B12, in the presence of gastric acid and pancreatic proteases, is released from food and salivary binding protein and bound to gastric intrinsic factor. When the vitamin B12-intrinsic factor complex reaches the ileum, it interacts with a receptor on the mucosal cell surface and is actively transported into circulation. Adequate intrinsic factor, bile and sodium bicarbonate (suitable pH) all are required for ileal transport of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 deficiency in adults is rarely the result of a deficient diet; rather, it usually reflects a defect in one or another aspect of this complex sequence of absorption. Achlorhydria and decreased secretion of intrinsic factor by parietal cells secondary to gastric atrophy or gastric surgery is a common cause of vitamin B12 deficiency in adults. Antibodies to parietal cells or intrinsic factor complex also can play a prominent role in producing deficiency. A number of intestinal diseases can interfere with absorption. Vitamin B12 malabsorption is seen with pancreatic disorders (loss of pancreatic protease secretion), bacterial overgrowth, intestinal parasites, sprue, and localized damage to ileal mucosal cells by disease or as a result of surgery. The recommended daily intake of vitamin B12 in adults is 2.4 .mu.g.

An initial therapy, the patient should receive daily intramuscular injections of 100 .mu.g of cyanocobalamin for about 1 to 2 weeks, together with 1 to 5 mg of folic acid. Intramuscular injections of cyanocobalamin should not be greater than 100 .mu.g as doses in excess of 100 .mu.g are rapidly cleared from the plasma into the urine, and administration of larger amounts of vitamin B12 will not result in greater retention of larger amounts of the vitamin.

i spoke to a pharmicist today locally, and she said 1 ml 1,000 ius a month is all you need.
I told her that seemed low,.
I asked her if once a week is o.k., and she said that is too much.
She also said the doc makes you come in once a month for just 1ml.
So that is why she suggested 1ml 1 time a month.
I am going to look more!

sehe would also probably tell you that 200mg of testosterone a week would make you strangle your kid and kill your wife  ::)

9-10 times B12 info is for animals....dosages are based on bodyweight

did you read that link i posted about the patch? gives you a little more insight on b12

"Most multi-vitamin pills contain 100-200 microgram of the cyanocobalamin form of B12. This must be converted to methylcobalamin or adenosylcobalamin before it can be used by the body. The actual absorption of B12 is also a problem with supplements. Swallowing 500 micrograms of cyanocobalamin can result in absorption of as little as 1.8 microgram so most multivitamins do not provide an adequate daily intake. The best approach is to use a Vitamin B12 Patch once a week. That will be sufficient to maintain adequate body stores. Some physicians still maintain that monthly injections of vitamin B12 is required to maintain adequate levels in the elderly and in patients with a diagnosed deficiency"
