In the game against Green Bay, his QB completed 75% of his passes for over 300 yards.
In the same game, LT only had 22 rushes and 3 receptions. He averaged less than 3 yards per carry, but averaged more than 10 yards per reception.
So why didn't he have more receptions??
In the first 2 games of the season, LT had only 24 and 22 total touches, respectively.
24+22+25 = 71
Most football people would argue that he needs to be getting 30 touches per game, and I agree.
That's just on the offensive side of the ball. Remember, before he got to Washington, he was supposedly this 'offensive genius'.
Giving Lt the ball 30 times instead of 24 or 22 times while his offensive line is getting pushed back at will and the opposing defense is playing behind the line of scrimmage would do nothing for the chargers but cost them more yards imo. Lt is getting shit yards because he is getting hit 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Not to mention you cant pass the ball if you have no time. Rivers is in the same situation Brady was last year. Wr's to slow to create seperation allowing people to play them man to man and not worry about the big play. Giving the ball to LT 30 times when his line is playing the way it is would be a bad idea. The receptions point is a solid one, but as you saw yesterday Rivers has trouble getting him the ball under pressure. Not to mention if you are focusing a teams success on one player you are screwed.
The chargers problems start on the offensive line. Before people get into the coaching they should focus on the horrid offensive line play, the poor run defense, and the secondary that can be passed on at will. Turner is a bad coach, but FAR from the only problem with this team. The secondary issue is old. It sucked last year to. They did nothing to sure it up.
Don't blame the chargers loss to the pats of the world on coaching. The NE offensive line was manhandling the chargers line. The NE defensive line was playing behind the chargers offensive line and penetrating at will. The secondary was subjected to an air raid, and the run d was exposed when they couldn't stack the box due to the shit secondary. In San D's scheme offensive and defensive line play are imperative. They play bad, the team cant operate. Last year the pats and the colts where not as good as they are now. Chargers turned over there staff and did nothing to improve, while the other afc big boys did everything they could to improve.
Chargers have the talent, and they will rebound. San D will make the playoffs. NE is ranked first in total offense and defense in the NFL. That loss should not be held against them, NE just flat out outplayed them. Green Bay should. When those lines play better San D will be fine. Then Norv will ef everything up.A long winded IMO of course.
