He should've won a few times, Kevin at his best would wipe the floor with this lineup
With all respect, hon, I don't think Kevin deserved any Olympia to date. The only arguable one is 1994, and that's mainly because Dorian Yates had the color of a glazed doughnut and seemed to wear an inch-thick coat of baby-oil onstage.
But even then, much as I hate to admit it (and ugly left arm and all), Dorian legitimately won over Kevin. His ab-thigh, both lat spreads, rear double-biceps, and [arguably] side triceps and side-chest went to Dorian. Kevin's side-chest shot was very flashy, but from head-to-toe it isn't easy to give the pose to him. He had one detailed, thick pec; the other, torn one was totally overshadowed by his huge shoulders and triceps. The only pose he definitely won -- and that was counted at the time, incidentally -- was the front double-biceps.
I do not see Kevin ever threatening Ronnie in 2000 or 2002. Kevin made a lot of noise about how he should've won both shows, but where were the thighs he had 10 years prior? Where was his back detail? Ronnie kicked his tail in 2000, plain and simple. 2002 ... Kevin beat himself. I love him but, regardless of whatever injuries, the legs and back just weren't there. Maybe Ronnie came in very "small" that year but the only thing to really suffer were his arms.
Gunter, not Kevin, was the real challenge that year. He was shredded, big all over and the crowd favorite. He had none of the shortcomings Ronnie or Kevin did, even if he couldn't quite match the former's two back poses.
Gunter should've won the 2002 Mr. Olympia. Kevin could have but, for whatever reason(s), he wasn't even as good as when he was at the Jr. Nationals level.
