 Addie's story:

Addie was a dump in a shelter in Defiance Ohio.  A person on a natural Dane group I was on posted about her and that her time was almost up.  I offered to take her, get her into good health, and place her.   So I drove to Cleveland (she brought her 3 hours to Cleveland to lesson my drive) and got her by the Hard Rock Cafe.   :D   She looked like crap. Underweight, flat feet, sores and bumps, complete with a head and chest infection with green snot.   :P   We stopped at a rest stop on the way back and I got her some Burger King and I was waiting for someone to accuse me of abusing her.  We had a pretty uneventful ride home (I didn't get lost!!  :D) and I realized when we got home she was so well behaved because she had chewed almost completely thru one of the back harness seat belts.   ::)

Briona and Emmett weren't too thrilled to meet her.  They would run away if she came near them but she didn't care, she was very friendly and had no problems with them.  She went to the vet and was put on antibiotics to clear up her snotty infections and I put her on a raw diet.  Because of her condition, infections, and being about 25pounds underweight, everything she ate came right out the other end.   :-X  I put her on cooked ground beef and rice for her first week or so.  Boy was that a fun week.  ::)   She was crated when I wasn't home because everyone wasn't acclimated yet, and she wasn't really housebroken, I did a lot of laundry cleaning her bedding!!

Obviously Addie didn't get placed and she stayed with me.  My friend on the Dane group knew she wasn't going anywhere and thought it was funny when I had originally said she would be placed.    Her name on her collar when dumped was Salem, I started calling her Flipper at first because of her feet, but then settled on Addie.

Below are some pics of when she first got here.

Stay tuned for more installments............ .....

I wish I had a better video camera, Addie and Tad were playing last night, it was pretty funny!!   Tad was running around behind the couch and through the living room.  He would go around one side of the couch and Addie would run to the other end knowing that was where he was going to come out!!  Then they would wrestle around (Addie would roll him around with her head with Tad biting her lips!) and she'd paw at him.  It's funny to see the look on her face when she is trying to get him!   ;D  And to see a big dog playing rough and tumble but gently with a little dog.

That's why they were all tuckered out, from their play session.

I wish I had a better video camera,

We don't need high quality....just shoot the scene  :D

Addie and Tad could surpass the wildly popular "Bear Pwns Getbig" video  ;D

That reminds me, anymore on that Xanadu thing?

It's that it is too dark and my vid camera is too cheap for less than perfect conditions.   :P    I may be borrowing a vid camera for something else so maybe I can get some footage.  One day I will splurge and get a better one.   I will ask that cheap bastardo goatboy to send me one!!  ;D

I got another note, the quality isnt' that good to use and they need the original or a better quality.  I can't really get a better quality of it.  :-\  I have all the movies on DVD but I don't have software to cut out parts off it.

Allrighty, Addie is going to have her knee debrided and closed tomorrow.   :(  Have a drainage tube for a few days also.  The skin sloughing off has gone down to muscle in a few areas and while it could probably heal on it's own, that would take about 6-8 weeks if everything went fine, so surgery seems the best choice in helping it heal faster.

pics and more details are in this thread, but don't click if you are squeamish!!

An excellent idea.  Maybe he can wrap it in your shirt and send them both along!

not sure, sometime in the morning I believe. She should be able to come home tomorrow as long as no complications.   She doesn't have a problem going to the vets, she will walk right in, but now she won't settle down while there, she tries to get on my lap and whines and wants to go, and even her prong collar on only helped marginally today.  Rubbing her ears didn't help either.   She'll go and look at the doorknob and look at me like "yo, if I had hands I would so be turning that and out-a here!"

Best wishes for Addie to have a speedy recovery, and hopefully this will take care of the problem!

 :)

Thanks Rip!!!    I hope so too!  And we still don't know what caused all these complications.  I hope this is the last of them!!

Addie got the tube out today - Yeah!  So far things look good, healing fine.  There is a bruise on the inside of that leg I need to keep an eye on and for any more that show up, but that bruise has stayed the same size since I noticed it so I think it will be fine.

Her weight is staying good, she's about 116-118, so she hasn't gone back to sow-doggieness even without being able to get walked.

We go back Wednesday for another check.

  :P

having half the tissue in your leg cut off tends to keep the weight down.

so, they ask you to be a mod yet?

'cause I'm still boycotting this board.  might be a permanent thing . . . like a hunger strike that goes on too long.

I don't think her leg weighed that much.    :P

I-don't-want-to-mod.  So go and have a pizza or something.
