I think there have been studies done on how people of different races perceive beauty. Interestingly some features that are considered attractive seem universal across races. It's also interesting that the black women who are models and considered attractive by most are mixed and have somewhat caucasian features.

I think that may also be across cultural lines. Here, where I am from, most the people of all races tend to also have a different ideal of beauty that say Americans seem to. Long hair for example, many women have waist length or so hair as that is considered an ideal. The American ideals of beauty tend to slightly differ from ours, regardless of race I have noted.

It was just since here waist length is so prevalent, and since I don't see many women there, or in the media etc with waist length hair but see more a wide variety of hairstyles...so with no empirical evidence I kind of boldly assumed with myself that it is not so much of an ideal comparatively

Whoopi would be ugly even if she was Halle's complexion. That is is just not a pretty woman. Period. I've seen Beautiful dark skinned women, like the 2006 Miss Trinidad and Tobago ( she should have won in 2006---if not runner up) at the Miss Universe.
