Anita Hill... do you believe her?
« on: October 02, 2007, 11:08:10 AM »
It’s been 16 years since Anita Hill accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harrassment.  In the interviews promoting his book and her response interview (on GMA) http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3678152&page=1   and editorial in the NY Times http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/02/opinion/02hill.html  I learned something I had not heard previously.  In the midst of the accusations 16 years ago, she took and passed a lie detector test; Clarence Thomas declined to take the same test.

Did/do you believe her accusations?  Why?  Why not?

I remember thinking at the time that he probably did say some off color and inappropriate things that he assumed he could get away with, but I don't think anyone could have said things that could of warranted the media coverage that it got....

my opinion was back then that she just had a serious dislike for the guy and played her first available hand.

Agreed - it's more than likely that he made some 'inappropriate remarks' at some point, but I can't see that denying him a spot on the SC.

When I listened to her testimony, though, she seemed a bit hesitant from time-to-time.
