Do you care about global warming?????
« on: October 04, 2007, 05:21:11 PM »

I used to be a nature freak, and at some point intend to be again. but I have to admit that I'm not the best steward . . .

I could probably get by w/o air-conditioning my whole house . . . in fact, the inspiration for this thread was my closing the vents in the rooms I don't use. So I'm doing that.

Harder to do is get a new car.  My car has a 4 liter engine, which is overkill . . . I live in an area of the country where gas is currently under $2.60, so most of my neighbors/peers have similarly overdone vehicles, which allows me to rationalize.

I eat a lot of red meat . . . cut down some, but I like it too much.

Also socially conscious firms should encourage people to work from home

no.

Global warming is bullshit

governments are killing our cars, they aren't even the cause of this. Hybrid cars are garbage.

whether we caused it or not, everybody will agree that the arctic icecap is dwindling . . . even if we didn't cause it, maybe we ought to do what we can to keep it.

I'm an alaska and northwest freak, so that's what i'm thinking about mostly, not just the arctic.

true enough, BUT people just lay blame on mankind. I think it is a very small percentage of mans contributions to climate change. This is cyclical. The earth and sun are changing.

I haven't really researched it, but I tend to agree.  Although I try and live "green" anyway.  With all the variables, it just seems unlikely to me that we caused it or can do anything about it.
