noxplode, protein, l-arginine, multi
« on: October 16, 2007, 02:15:43 PM »
I'm just a beginner, trying to pack on a few pounds of lean muscle, while gaining strength, and losing a little bit of fat.
I run for a minimum of 30 minutes in am, but most of the time 30 in am ,and 30 in pm.
I'm taking noxplode (ive read mixed opinions), a multi of course, protein, and l-arginine.
I feel like I do get very good pumps from the combo of the larginine and noxplode.
My question is, should i be taking something post workout as well, aside from protein?
My goal is to get bigger, but not fatter (as is everyone elses im sure)
I eat fairly healthy as well.
Is there another stack I should try? Or will this be sufficient?
I realize noxplode has larginine in it, but received a tip that taking a little extra would help, and it seems to.

I think you should try some creatine.  I notice that you are taking noxplode, BSN also makes a good creatine called Cell-mass that you can take post-workout.  Its a little pricey though, but its good stuff.  I think you will definitely see more gains from creatine than say a pre-workout energizer like No-Xplode, though if you can afford to stack them you should make some good gains.  If not I'd drop the No-xplode in favor of Cell-mass if money is an issue.  Creatine should be a primary supplement with stuff like No-xplode and other Nitric Oxide products secondary.  Obviously all this on top of sound diet, training and rest.

No-Xplode has creatine in it, but its not anywhere near what you need for an optimal dosage.  I think if you add cell-mass or some other high quality creatine supplement (Size-on by Gaspari Nutrition is another good one)to your program you will see some good gains.  Bottom line is No-Xplode and Cell-mass are quality supplements.  Those who bash you for "getting ripped off blah blah" either have never tried the product or live in their mom's basement and can't afford the stuff on their $50/week allowance.  Those of us with actual jobs can afford to invest in our bodies.  No-xplode is meant to be more of a pre-workout energizer/ Nitric Oxide supplement rather than a creatine supplement.  If you can afford to take all 3 (No-Xplode, L-arginine, Cell-mass), I think that would be the best way to go.  But definitely I think you shouldn't rely on No-Xplode for your creatine needs.

Man, I guess we all have to start some where right. Your making all the noob mistakes right off the bat.
If you use all that stuff the way your supossed to, it will last 1 month. How much do you think youl gain in 1 month? Stick to the protien and multi, and eat good food. Some people think they wont gain unless there taking 85 pills and diferent powders. Than we grow up.  ;) I'm not trying to be a dick, just dont want you to get disapointed, and give up, and than adopt the attitude of everyone whos making gains are on steroids :P It takes lots of food, and lots of time, and some heavy ass workouts ;D  My oppinion, gain as much muscular wieght as you can with good food, heavy workouts, and proper rest, for at least 6 months to a year, than add some of the fancy pancy supps. I think if your honest with yourself and work hard, (read consistent) youll be suprissed at what you can acomplish 8)

If you are doing as much running as you are chances are you are not getting in enough calories for optimal muscle growth. Personally I would take a closer look at the protein powder you are taking and possibly modify your post workout shake to have more carbohydrates in it. Personally I take a post workout shake called Mutant Mass by PVL that does have quite a bit of carbs in it, but the carbs from from starches that are geared towards replenishing glycogen (VERY important if you run twice a day for recovery) and putting on quality weight.

If you are really hesitant about putting on body fat (that is ok to think that way) I would suggest more of a moderate carb protein drink such as Lean Gainer by Interactive. That one was a balanced ratio of Carbs to Protein and will still give you extra stuff you need post workout, but minimize any calories spilling over into fat gain.

Hope that helps!

As a newbie it's easy to get overly enthusiastic, especially with supplements.  Just stick with the BASICS until you have a better understanding what's what and what your body needs for your goals.  For instance, your NO has l-arginine in it.   Save your money until you have more training and understanding under your belt. The protein and multi are fine.  Always include carbs with your protein PWO (post work-out).  You did not mention anything about your training regimen other than cardio.

Im not fat by any means, however, I'm certainly not skinny either. I can use to get more muscle mass, but I'd like to do so without putting on ANY fat, and in fact, id like to lose fat/tone while doing this.
Here's a half ass ghetto picture of me, so you can get an idea of my body type.

Do any of you not read what is in your supplements that you are taking??  99.9% of all NO products have some form of L-arginine in them. No need to take NO products and l-arginine, hence they both work one in the same being a cell volumizer as it is a precurser of NO.

if you need a prework energizer, Gaspari Superpump works much better, IMO.  and as previously stated you can get better/more creatine elswhere. I would worry more about eating clean and basic whey protein, BCAAs and a multi vitamin. Youre new, you'll grow fast with this and the proper lifting.
P.S., take that picture off immediately and hit those lats!

That was the first thing I noticed too. I personally don't like spending tons of money (not that I can't afford it) so I take many of the ingredients found in something like NO-explode by themselves.

1-1.5g of Protein per pound, multi, creatine and L-arginine lots of hard work, moderate weights in the 8-12 rep range and time will build muscle.
gotta love life

If money is not an issue...

(Supplements + Working out) > (Working out without supplements)

again if money is not an issue...

(Buying supplements) > (Building your own supplements)

You can have a great supplement program for probably $150/month or so, so if you aren't broke I say go for it even if you are a beginner.  If you live in your mom's basement than adjust above formulas accordingly. ;D
