Why do you think this is so, hedge?
What possible motive would Fox, CNN, or NBC have for ignoring relevant facts?
There are books and thesises written on this.
But my (short) take: Multi National Corporative Media Companies is an environment were investigative journalism won't thrive.
The term "newzak" was coined by Bob Franklin, to describe how news broadcasts today are produced, not to stimulate or to make us react, but rather to sooth us, to keep us calm and entertained.
Like muzak in a supermarket or in an elevator.
Lets look at Washington Post. It has a long history of investigative journalism, and high integrity among its staff. The owners believe in not influencing the editorial content, allowing the journalists to seek out the truth.
The same can be said for NY Times and a few other papers, with traditional owners, that believe in journalism.
Then there are companies like Disney, who do not have the same tradition of journalism, and when they start buying news papers, TV channels, networks, et al, research shows that the previously independent news papers et al, will NOT be able to sustain their previous journalistic policy.
Example: A couple of news papers in the UK had previously done some very critical stories on how Murdoch took control of the PPV market in the UK. When he bought these papers, the critique faded out.
Some may think that this is totally acceptable. That "you shouldn't backstab one of your buddies".
But the problem is that journalism is about being objective, and investigating everything.
If you can't investigate one of your "teammates", that serves as strong support for tough anti-monopoly laws and regulations.
We should only have laws against monopolies and trusts if those causes problems.
Clearly, they do.
Murdoch can't have both monopoly AND any control of what is on the agenda. If he does, the laws needs to be tightened up, and implemented harder.
