I agree, watching union is just not as exciting as it used to be teams these days sides just play to go get penalties instead of tries to win games.

I suggest you watch an All Blacks game. Hope this helps.

League is simply poor mans union... Rugby has far greater athletes.... I would even say American Football is better than League. Thats how shit league is.

So why are some of the best Union backs former league players, and why can't union players ever make an impact in league? League players are better athletes, the game is almost constant movement as opposed to Unions stop-start affair, and don't start me on NFL, Oxygen between plays is not a sign you are a great athlete.

Ive seen this before and i have always wondered, why are new zealand aloud to do all that stupid dancing shit before games, why are the opposition "forced" to watch as i would think it gives an immediate psychological advantage to new zealand.......ban that shit!

PS is that french guy famous only for having long hair and a long beard?...seriously if he had normal hair and was clean shaven i would imagine he would get a lot less attention than he does now

I agree with both parts.

Why yes, yes they do. :D

But they are not meant to ... just like our top Olympia contenders, and NFL players, and Barry Bonds are "not meant to".

Testing is done randomly.  Yet the huge men in the scrum (below) have enormous strength (and are able to bench press 5 plates in the gym) while still playing a full and fast-paced 80 minutes on the field...

Grant, all due respect, there's a few pro rugby league players at the gym I goto, and they are nowhere near the 5 plate per side level.

Maybe the union guys are just superior genetically? :-*

I've never seen a shot-putter bench five plates let alone a rugby player.

Well to be honest, I think only a few of the top world scrummagers can bench that amount.  None of the running backs have that level of strength ... but I did find this link on Sheridan (and 225kg is the same as 507 pounds which is about 5 plates, yes?)

I would have figured it would have been an ENGLISHMAN to perform that feat! 8)

On a side note, he looks slightly retarded, maybe a reason for his strength?

A couple years ago, OLN used to show Australian Rules Football, and some of those cats were F-ing ripped, and they weren't 180-190. These cats were 220-230. Sinew, vascularity. They looked awesome. I can't believe they were drug free and I don't care that they weren't. :D

Good athletes and very tough.

Ahhh i hate that game. They are very fit boys though. But the game sucks. Please don't mention it again.

In case any Victorians missed it, the game sucks.

That may well be ...  but I'd never tell him that!   Nor would I dare steal his lunchbox!!!!!

On a side note..... do you guys think Brian Habana can do the Superman again in the Rugby World Cup Final on Saturday?

That's not a fair statement, Power Rod.  Often Rugby players come off the pitch with deep facial cuts, get stitched up on the side line with no local , and return to the game.

This would never happen in American Football?  They get carted off on those special golf carts and we never see them return to the game?  They are so pampered and grossly over-paid.  Just ask Terrell Owens or Randy Moss?

American Ice hockey shows more toughness than Gridiron Football in this sense?

Ah, and as a Bok fan I wish I could be so sure too.  But Wilkinson is the "magic man" and I honestly think it will be a very close game.

Anything can happen on any given Saturday in this World Cup ...as the English and French have already proved.  I just Pray for fair decisions from the ref's?   Just let the best team win?

Guys I have played American Football, Aussie Rules and Rugby (league) and I can tell you Rugby is by far the toughest game on the body. Anyone who thinks otherwise should play a couple of seasons....then tell me it's a soft game 8).

Oh yeah Grant the Haka is magic stuff, I played with a ton of Kiwi's over here (Australia) and we all learnt the Haka from them, not quite the same when a little guy like me does it but it's still great stuff ;D.

World Cup Final is at 4am over here Sunday morning so I might have to watch the replay the next day depending on what time I get home sat night, I may just stay up to watch though 8).
