Author Topic: Guys help me get some ideas about promoting Gym Stories.com (Read 1921 times)

Man I suck so bad in promoting a webpage I know SpecialEd is pretty good in promotion but he seems to be unavailable, I'm fully finished with the page and I want before I even go so far as to SEO it or optimize it for Google I want to promote it a little on the other BB Boards, Problem is I don't want to spam.
BB.com leaves you no option, you are not allowed to even mention another page...

What do you guys think would be a good way to promote that page?

If there is anybody who could give me a hand, please come forward...

Mods can I ask you please please please to leave this one up for a moment, I'm pretty much desperate.

Print up some massive gymstories t-shirts and sell them at MMA contests. Just push the TapouT guys aside. Do the same at biker rallies and move the West Coast CHoppers guys over. Then get your own reality show on SPIKE where all you do is showoff the gymstories website.

I know nothing about building webpages so I'm no help.

People should start taking pictures of gym characters with their cell phones! A pictures section would be awesome. Just give it time.

To be honest I don't even want the kids from BB.com on that page, I want a good mixture of simply funny shit and quality posts, now with bb.com Misk kiddies posting you have every post start with... man there was this guy in my Gym ...huge guy (no homo)

Offer a prize for the best story. A "Train like a Freak" shirt or a guido-chain could generate some serious traffic. Or, you could match muscleology's $100 grand prize!

Make a Myspace page or a Facebook page....you should get tons of teens and creepy old dudes from that .

Spam the hell out of other fitness and lifting message boards. There are tons of them out there. Create alter ego accounts on the boards and have discussions with yourself. You already know that GB mbrs will go to your site.

Allow people to submit their own stories. Give something away for the best story of the month. Doesn't have to be anything expensive.

You can do that already.... Simply click on Submit a Story and you can write one yourself... I thougt that was obvious... IF IT IS'T LET ME NOW!!! that's vital for the page to work.

sites needs more content first so here is a few things

make a section dedicated to all funny gym related movies you can find on youtube, metacafe etc and embed them in your page there are tons out there

search the net for funny gym or fitness jokes and make a page for that

those are things that will get people to email their friends links to your site

offer a prize for the weeks funniest stories and let em rate it

write a press release and send it to all fitness mags and a general fax to newspapaers some will run it regardless it will be publis3ed by sites creating link backs = better search engine results for ya

Stark...do you have your site set up so that you can capture e-mail addresses? Have people sign up to receive an e-mail when you add stories.

Also, have your stories set up so that visitors can e-mail the stories to people. That way you can capture that e-mail addy as well.

A system that as soon as a new Post goes online, all people who have signed up get an email?
And a simple: Send this story to a friend email system?

Awesome help guys, I have installed the following...

1) You can now subscribe via a simple but (at least from an Admin point) sophisticated Script, you will receive a short email notifying you
of a new Gym Story.

2) Email this Post has been installed and you can use it now to send your friends the best stories.

Further planed additions:

1) Some form of an Image/upload/Gallery option, a simple Gallery would be easy but is super boring, please let me know what you would like.
2) Plan for a Monthly best Gym Story with Price, voted by the users (you can see the simple vote under the Posts) Thumb up down...what I will change to: Funny Face / Angry Face for Funny Story or Boring Story.
Prices are still under negotiation, but money is boring please send me good ideas if you have them.

3) Bodybuilding Movie Compilation... not sure how I will do that but it's a logical step.
