Kalib Starnes was cut in the first 15 seconds by Belcher's knee. If you saw the fight, about halfway through the first round, Kalib complained to the ref about not being able to see, but Belcher jumped on him and Starnes fought back. In the second round, Starnes took a few steps back after getting pounded with a wicked body punch. The ref chose to step in and have the doctor check out the cut. It wasn't bleeding terribly, but it was HUGE (about 3 in. long) and DEEP, and was over Starnes's right eye and dripping into the eye, albeit slowly.
The doctor asked Starnes, "Can you see?" and Starnes allegedly replied, "I want to continue," at which point someone from Starnes's corner came over to where he was being checked out. Again Starnes was asked, "Can you see?" and Starnes allegedly said, "NO, but I want to keep going." Upon hearing from the fighter himself that he COULD NOT SEE, the doctor had no choice but to stop the fight. Apparently Starnes's corner was disgusted by the fact that Starnes said he couldn't see and walked out on him. Starnes then threw a shitfit, throwing his mouthguard at someone by the doctor's seat, and stomping around the ring like an angry child who has been told he can't play with his toys.
The fact remains that Belcher was toying with him and laying a beating down on Starnes. No way Starnes made it to the final bell regardless of the cut IMHO.
