this thread is not about politics.

the soviet national anthem (and now russian..with modified lyrics) is the most beautiful of them all.

And just when i thought i was the only one who liked this anthem. It's actually part of my ipod playlist, and whenever im working out and i start listening to this song, i feel like i must put some serious effort on what im doing, just like the soviets did when the protected stalingrad.

imagine living in a small isolated shed deep in siberia, working out with worn out rusty weights with the soviet national anthem blaring and wearing an ushanka.
keeping everything basic. no machines, no nothing. just hard work.

i have liked this song since i was a small kid, i used to watch all kinds of sports on TV and i remember hearing it in the mid 80s for the first time...it brought tears to my eyes seeing bubka receive his gold medal with the soviet national anthem playing. i never been a commie, but i was always a fan of eastern european athletes (their dedication, hard work without fancy equipment)

i used to know all kinds of statistics....in many different sports...specially athletics and ice hockey.

he sure is..but he competed for the soviet union in the 80s.

Yeah i liked all of those sportsmen from good ol commie russia, bulgary, rumania, hungary, yugoslavia, czech, ahh so many.
When i think about it i notice how young i was, probably 7 years old, and maybe i witnessed the world's best athletes from all times.
