Anderson Silva reflects on UFC 77
« on: October 22, 2007, 04:49:11 AM »

"I thought Rich fought much better than he did the first time,” Silva told MMAWeekly.com. “He defended the clinch in a much better fashion this time. Rich fought well. I was just fortunate enough to fight a little bit better than Rich."

He waited patiently in the opening moments of the bout before nearly finishing Franklin with a stunning combination of strikes at the end of the first round. Saved by the bell, Franklin was barely about to return to his corner between rounds.

"I was trying to find the right time to do what I was trying to do,” commented Silva on his performance.

"Overall, I felt I fought alright. I want to go back and watch the tapes and see the mistakes I made to try to improve on them for the next time."

Silva has dominated his way to the top of the UFC middleweight ladder, but continues to look towards the future.

"I'm looking forward to trying to move to the United States, to Los Angeles, as soon as possible, keep training hard and try to improve on the mistakes I made, and keep putting on performances that all the fans around the world are going to appreciate watching."

When asked whom he would like to fight next, Silva responded with the one opponent that UFC president Dana White may find impossible to recruit.

"In a perfect world, I'd love to fight my clone."

yes his fight record isnt all that special. he recently fought chris leben for christ sake. and i think travis lutter would beat him if there was ever a re-match, which i doubt, but he screwed up on that one... he had a real good chance.

Youre both retarded, he submitted a proclaimed black belt in BJJ from his back.  You cant take that away from him.  Noone will touch him for a while.  I think the only person that would even give him a fight would be Hendo.

yeah i felt he had a good chance finishing that fight but he was unable to mostly because of his condition

Im not real sure why he came into that fight so overweight, as well as extremely out of shape.  Biggest opportunity of his life and he blows it.

Well Dana was fuckin pissed because the chump couldnt make weight hence that fight not being a title fight.  Anderson was also pissed because he felt like it was a waste of time.

hendo will beat silva if he does in fact come down in weight..where he should be anyway. i don't know why he came over to the ufc to fight rampage right off of the bat. he is to small for a heavy weight. he would take over 185

Well he didnt fight at Heavyweight, he fought at Light heavy.  The only reason he did that was because Dana had to "unify" the belts.  And the only reason he fought at LHW in Pride was to shut Silvas ass up.  But I think he will be the only one to give Anderson a run for his money.

Hendo,Lindland and possibly Filho have the best shot of beating Silva.

Hendo @ 185 will be drained...I dont want him fighting @ 185...just only for a fight with Silva. Don't forget not long ago how he looked like shit against that Japanese fighter.

Hendo would be a good test for Anderson.  Silva was coming off surgery prior to his fight with Lutter, and he submitted him from his back.  Take away the fluke loss to Chonan, and the DQ to Okami, he has a pretty good record.  Not to mention, with his additional BJJ skills, he is on another level, and there really isn't anyone at 185 to give him a rub.  With Filho in the WEC, Lindland not in the UFC, the logical next step would be Hendo.  I think Hendo can nullify the clinch, but can he stand in front of Anderson?  Hendo has wicked power.

How can you say that when Hendo is a true middleweight???

A MW years ago.....he's body has matured since then and 185 is not a good idea. Hendo always weighed in around 195 during his entire carrer.....he was between MW and LHW...so he was not really a MW.

Uhh ok so let me get your thinking straight.  You expect a guy that walks around at about 195-200 to fight at 205?  Youre an idiot.  LHW walk around at at least 215-225 and cut to 205.
