Do you train when you sick?
« on: October 22, 2007, 09:05:19 AM »
When you get a cold or the flu, do you keep training full-out?  do you cut back?

or do you stop?  how long do you wait to start again?

I rarely get sick, but I surely won't train if I am.  It is not hardcore, its just stupid to train if you are sick or overly tired even.

I agree, you will make things worse and it will keep you out of the gym longer. Go to cvs and get zicam, shit makes a cold only last 3 days. At least for me it does.

lets get this straight,, if youve got the flu u cant get out of bed,,, if youve got a sniffle and a blocky head youve got a cold,, a goin thru the motions session helps you along in my opinion,, if u didnt train every time u felt funny or had an ache youd never train at all!

I rarely get headaches or feel sick, or feel "funny" so when i do, it's no big deal to take a day off.

A cold is one thing..Most people can tolerate colds to some extent. However, if you have the flu you need to stay at home. Going to the gym increases the likelihood that you'll spread it all around.

I don't even bother training when I'm not feeling 100%. If I have gone to the gym unwell and my warm-up sucked, then I know there's no point in taking it further. Live to fight another day.

flu or cold whatever it is   if u ever cought it that almost take an average of one week to get well, i would wait another week on top of that to fully recoperate and then hit the gym at 100%

Give your body time to rest and then get back in there.

if is is a cold i will sweat it out at around 75 percent of my usual intensity,if it is the flu then i usually take 3-5 days off and medicate and rest.

I remember an old interview with dorian, and he said he'll skip the gym if he just doesnt feel good overall.  If he's too tired or sick or whatever.  Basically, if you can't go 100%, let your body rest until you can.

I workout during a cold to sweat it out.  Believe it or not, it works.  I normally wait until a subsides via Tylenol.  I could never have enough energy to go into the gym and workout with the flu let alone a case of diarrhea.
