It will only get worse as global warming will worsen.  People are too stupid to realize that they are the contributing factor of not only the start of these fires, but the worsening thereof.

They also build in areas where it makes no sense to build.  Perhaps this is the wakeup call that they need.

LOL I seriously hope you die adonis. You really are a piece of shit that needs to be killed.

Glad to hear that man. Where did you guys ended up sheltering?

I have a friend in Rancho Santa Fe who wasn't so fortunate. Barn is gone, Half the house is gone.

Sorry to hear about your friend in RSF. I'm nearby if any help at all is needed. we've got some great friends who took us in near downtown SD. We thought about qualcomm stadium since all the reports made it seem like some sort of Mardi Gras celebration! It's great to see the continued number of volunteers, the generosity and the positive outllook of the San Diego population.

I think you need to realize that as of yet the FEMA can't "Beam" the resources where they are needed Star Trek style...yet

Yeah,  I guess those tanker water drop planes that are in Colorado and other states take 48 hours to get to California.  A quick comminucations saying 'Fires are out of Control - can we send them now' would of helped.  Quite a number of houses would of been saved.

What we see here is different than what people see around the world. In Los Angeles, the local news channels concentrate on the Santa Clarita fires, the Malibu fires, the Aqua Dulce fire, the Piru fire, the Stevenson Ranch fires.

In San Diego, the local news concentrates on the Witch fire, the Harris fire, the Fallbrook fire, etc.

In Orange County, same thing.

Local resources were diverted, and not enough was around.

Some smaller fires that burned houses didnt get the water drops that were used in other fires. Hence, more resources were needed when the time was right.

maybe they have a long runway?

jokes aside, for governmental institutions, they were pretty fast. Remember, it's not "We have a fire here, please help!", it's more like
"We have a fire here, who's in charge?"
"Wait, i'll phone central. Central? We've got a fire here, who's in charge?"
"I'll contact the person in charge. ... There's a fire, you have to do something!"
"Well, first i have to assure it's in this years financial possibilities to kill the fire. I have to call the person in charge..."

Make this through 4 states and up to the federal level and 2 days is no time.  :-\ :-\

I only feel sorry for the displaced animals and ruined plants.

This says more about you than anything you've ever posted. As a consumer you're part of the problem. So do the right thing.

it can be spelt both ways grammar police...why not refute my claim that the rich in Southern California pay off politicians to build thier McMansions in areas they shouldnt. They destroy vegetation, which would normally retain moisture and stabilitly in the he soil, and they illegally back fill promoting dangerous mudslides for the poor people below them.

uh, no it can't.  if you can't spell a simple word like that, and think you can spell it either way, you're obviously an uneducated/undereducated troll who's not worth talking to . . .

the rest of the educated world knows that it wasn't the rich who got burned for the most part . . .

Ok "algea bra" , and you serioulsy believe that the rich will not get special treatment..I just saw on the news a wealthy family portrayed as evacuees, when during Katrina the poor were referred to as refugees.

your a petite bourgeoisie ass kisser waiting for the filthy rich to throw you a scrap.

It is you my friend that is not worth talking too because you do not have an independent point of view. You are sold out.  Isnt it time to go shopping at Fashion Island.

Yes, the poor Malibu "lowlanders."

true, in places like Malibu and Laguna they just pay off one town politician after another. There are no poor. They are all at each others throats, cutting down trees and backfilling to expand their houses. Its a big joke.

They are beautiful places,  but the people make it ugly to live there. Just horrible.

On a serious note, my uncle has a place in Fallbrook, California, 10 acres of land with over 300 avocado trees, and the house is over 4,000 sq ft.

This morning, the fire went right through the area, Just spoke to my father, who said that my uncle said that every avacoda tree and the entire area is burnt, but the firefighters saved the house, as the concentrated on that. Not sure of the damage of the house as they won't let him back there, but they said some smoke and water damage perhaps.

Primary concern now in the area are people trying to get back in and perhaps looting the empty areas that were evacuated.

He considers himself very, very lucky.

That sucks to hear...but glad he's ok.

So many people here have nothing to go home too.  As of right now...I'm still lucky.  There's nothing else to call it.

Yes, try putting yourself in front of 60 mph winds and then blaming the environment or Global warming for everything.  Those winds were brutal, howling during the night.  With a fire, even a small fire, and those winds, embers and burning tree branches can fly quite far into the night, fanning and igniting flames.

Your ignorance is amazing sometimes.

The only ignorance here in California is that there was not enough resources to help out with these fires, and the federal government and military resources came way, way too late.  This resources should of been authorized quite quickly once the fire was out of control, not 2 days later.

Well....what alot of people don't realize is how much open, rocky, & brushed filled land is out here.  The Santa Anna winds are a normal occurance here.  Then you put into account that dickhead pyro's have started the majority of the fires.  Some of the firs can be contributed to downed power lines.

Still....when you're talking thousands of acres....the only thing you can do is try and save what you can.  The fire cannot be stopped with winds like we had.

Well Ron....what sucks is that in Riverside County....neither the LA news or the San Dego news covers this area.

The Poomacha & Rice Fire (which is in North County San Diego) is barely covered by the San Diego News.  It borders Riverside County which means the people that live there...have very little knowledge of whats going on.  Besides Rancho Bernardo....Fallbrook has taken the majority of houses lost in this fire.  Too bad the news doesn't cover it too well.   :-\  Secondly...the Poomacha Fire has connected to the Witch Fire which probably has the most acres covered & lost so far.  Too bad thats not covered.   :-\

I was just amazed how the news felt like covering the Magic fire in Ventura County because it was close to Magic Mountain eventhough the acres burnt wasn't nearly as bad & posed less of a threat.  I guess because it was near an amusement park it gained more interest.

I was here in 2003 for the Cedar fire.  I can say there is better organization for this fire....but this one is 10 times worse than the Cedar.
