Who do you think should go up/down a weightclass in UFC?
« on: October 23, 2007, 10:10:47 AM »
Some of you want Franklin to go from 185 to 205.

Who else do you think should switch weight class?

Vera?

Vera (imo) showed he's better suited at 205 the other night

like to see liddel stand and trade with some heavies

like to see the 155lbs get a little deeper and see penn fight there more often

I agree, Id like to see Chuck move up and Penn stay at 155.

Also Id like to see what GSP could do at 185.

Yeah he's a big 170, a little more muscle and he'd be great at 185.

Cro Cop.

He should move down to 205.

He would kill everyone in the LHW division.

I know.

He needs to move down. Cro Cop is a small heavyweight.

Kongo looked like a giant next to Cro Cop.

Its crazy how big Cro Cop used to look against those Japs, but now fighting some bigger guys it exposes how small he is for a HW.  He def needs to move down.

I think he like being at heavyweight though.  Doesnt have to cut weight, faster than most if not all other HW, and likes beating them up being a smaller guy.

Silva should go up to 205 and challenge Quinton. He doesn't have to weigh 205 -- he can come in at 195.

One guy who could get down to 185 is Liddell. The guy is not very lean and could easily cut 20. Liddell v. Anderson Silva is more intriguing than Liddell v. Vanderlei.

Franklin should retire. You don't really want to see him taking knees and punches from Houston Alexander do you?

BJ Penn, with that Hawaiian gene, can obviously add a lot of weight, so BJ v. Anderson Silva works for me!!!

Anyone can add 20 pounds of fat. Just ask onlyme  :).
I've said it before, crocop should go down to 205. And i agree that Lidell should go down as well.
I think Quinton can go up very easily if he wants to. He probably already fights at 220, dude is thick (especially legs).
Fedor to 205  ;D. Seriously, if he got lean he'd be somewhere around that. He's only 6 foot.
I thought by now Randy would have gotten his ass kicked, and i was hoping he'd go to 205. But this guy will probably add another ten pounds of lean muscle for his next fight.
But for the last three it would probably not be the best career move.

Shogun needs to go down to 185. In an organization with testing, he's a small 205.

GSP to 185, Cro-Cop to 205, Hendersen to 185, Vera to 205, Diego to 155, no way franklin can go up to 205, can't handle 185 right now, no way Chuck can go to heavy weight, he's fat enough at 205,

Wow you are special.  Yes Chuck Liddell.  He cuts 20 lbs before every fight.  That is him at weigh ins.  That is why he looks frail because hes dehydrated.  How long have you been following MMA bro ::)

Not that he looks frail or even dehydrated, look at that gut for cutting 20lbs

Well its a well known fact that he party's like a rockstar.  And you expect him to cut upwards to 40 lbs to get down to 185?????  Dont think it will happen.  Plus when you cut that much weight you lose alot of power and strength.  Chuck wants to move up to HW last I heard, but that was a while ago.

You obviously know nothing about cutting weight. The idea is to get as lean as possible and then to drop the water. Alan Belcher for example, came to Cincy on Wedmesday at 202 in phenomenal condition. Then he cut 16 lbs to make 186. If you eat like shit, drink beer, and don't do your running, you wind up looking like Chuck and have to cut water without having cut the fat.

Just because a guy has to cut water to make weight doesn't mean he's even remotely lean or couldn't drop 20 permanently. One look at Chuck's gut tells you he's got 15 lbs of waste just sitting in his digestive system.

So the MMA board has found its resident expert on cutting weight.  Let the games begin.

That's what the Expert Stars are for brighteyes! Sorry you know so little about basic things like cutting weight and diet. You think Chuck can't make 185 when he walks around at 220 without even realizing how normal that is. Rich Franklin walks around at 220 also. Diets down to 195-200 and drops the water to hit 185. According to Stephan Bonnar, Rich and Jorge were practically dying in their hotel rooms trying to make weight.

Perhaps you should go back to arguing with people about how Pride > UFC. It requires less expertise.
