songs to stick in other people's head
« on: October 27, 2007, 01:48:52 PM »
the one cool thing (actually, annoying) thing I like to do when I am working with someone is sing a song and then a few minutes later catch the other person singing it

I used to use I'll tumble for ya at work.  Catchy and annoying.  But when I really want to stick a song in someone's head the thing that works the best is the theme song from I dream of jeannie

anyone else catch themselves singing or humming a song that they DON'T like?

Artist: Suzanne Vega
Album: Solitude Standing
Title: Tom's Diner

I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner

I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee

And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue

He is looking
Out the window
At somebody
Coming in

"it is always
Nice to see you"
Says the man
Behind the counter

To the woman
Who has come in
She is shaking
Her umbrella

And i look
The other way
As they are kissing
Their hellos

I'm pretending
Not to see them
Instead
I pour the milk

I open
Up the paper
There's a story
Of an actor

Who had died
While he was drinking
It was no one
I had heard of

And i'm turning
To the horoscope
And looking
For the funnies

When i'm feeling
Someone watching me
And so
I raise my head

There's a woman
On the outside
Looking inside
Does she see me?

No she does not
Really see me
Cause she sees
Her own reflection

And i'm trying
Not to notice
That she's hitching
Up her skirt

And while she's
Straightening her stockings
Her hair
Is getting wet

Oh, this rain
It will continue
Through the morning
As i'm listening

To the bells
Of the cathedral
I am thinking
Of your voice...

And of the midnight picnic
Once upon a time
Before the rain began...

I finish up my coffee
It's time to catch the train

Liar!!!!Filt!!!!

Excellent topic.  I have to agree; "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" is a perfect song to plant in somebody's head.  Here are some others that can drive coworkers to suicide when they just can't stop singing it:

1.  Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (especially the opening "Jitterbug!") by Wham
2.  Penny Lover by Lionel Richie
3.  Say Say Say by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson
4.  9 to 5 by Dolly Parton
5.  Strut by Sheena Easton
6.  Man! I Feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain
7.  Fresh by Kook & The Gang
8.  Do You Believe by Cher

I'm sure more will come to mind...
