I am not aware of ANY connotation of racism relating openly African-American citizens and bananas, nor any other fruit. He could have been eating a grapefruit just as easily, for example.

There is none. However, if you consider Ronnie, not only being built like one, but also being black you can call him a monkey (or an ape in Ronnie's case). And that is where Stark is getting the idiotic idea that the picture is racist....that you're posting an image of a "monkey eating a banana."
