California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says marijuana is not a drug, a British magazine reported Monday. But his spokesman said the governor was joking.

Weed is basically legal in the u.s. the penalties for having it are weak, you don't even go to jail. Just get a court date and have to pay a little bit of money. I've never been caught myself but I've been in court with those who have. Smoking in California is the best ever. California is heaven on Earth. The bluest sky, and the whitest clouds almost all year. I love it. It's a state of tranquility like one other. For me at least.

Pretty expensive place too, except you don't care for dirty shabby jamaican, pakistani or shwarma places.

The fucking water channels in the city stink like shit in the summer.

Germany's the same.
The state i live in (Northrhine-Westphalia) allows up to 5g per person for using yourself. Selling and buying, even owning it is illegal, smoking isn't. Weird jurisdiction.

I've seen friends pass police inspection with up to half a kilo, saying they'd smoke it themselves, not sell it. But then, every now and then someone gets punished as a warning for others...

I think they have been illegal for a long time now.

It's just through some loophole they can still sell them. I believe the fully dried ones are already seen as drugs, so they sell them not fully dried or sth like that. Don't bash me, i'm not exactly an expert on magic mushrooms.

I think it is about the concentration of psylocybin in the mushrooms. Fresh = 95% water, so it's diluted enough. Dried = ready to ingest = illegal. But yes, a few weeks ago talk started about banning them entirely.

One more thing for people going there: don't buy anything on the street. Those people will try to rip you off, and they know much better than you what they can get away with. I've done it, when my reliable source dried up suddenly, but even for an alpha male such as myself it is not the best of ideas. Besides: XTC from the streets is usually poorer quality than what you'd get in the US. We export most of the good stuff.

As i said, make it a day trip (i often did that, it takes about 3 hours by car from my place) and it's nice. But i pisses you off soon. If you've never been there, it's okay to visit, but even for the marihuana, you can go to 1000 other places in the Netherlands where it's cheaper and more reliable.

I've been living in Amsterdam for the past 21 years and i have to say could never really leave this place. I love it, everything from the stupid tourist trying to find drugs and hookers to the canals to the nightlife.
And yes, i've smoked ALOT of weed and if you know where to find it, it's cheap and very high quality.

i liked amsterdam but i was only there for a few weeks and fortunately do not not have addictions but appreciate the openness and freedom of expression found there.  it was interesting to see the people siting in the sex shop windows.  lol.  oh and a friend bought a pot cigarette.  i 've been around the world several times during active military duty and more frequently since. and most enjoy places where people are free the best.
my next big trip is south africa.
