Protan thoughts
« on: October 30, 2007, 09:01:16 PM »
When have you had the best color with it ? Starting the day before, two days prior ? ect. I have always started painting the evening before but I am getting advice to start Thurs PM. Does showering Friday mess it up ?

Thanks

Starting Friday morning and putting on a coat every 2 to 3 hours seems to work really well. After about the third coat lightly rinse in the shower. Anywhere from 4 to 8 coats should do it. A good base tan helps as well. Also, use an exfoliator for a few days before. It allows it to go on a lot smoother.

i would go with 2 days prior. if you have a good base tan 3-4 coats of the protan and some touch up if needed before prejudging.  when you shower friday some of the color is odviously going to run off but you will still be applying another coat.

also i love dream tan at the end as a finisher. after the coats of protan blending in a small amount of dream tan on sat morning has been the best comp color ive seen. it has to be dream tan 2 not 1. dream tan 1 because that tends to give that bronze statue type look which the judges hate. i wouldnt recommend using the dream tan at all unless you have someone who knows who to use it applying it for you.

Depends on how dark you already are. If you are buck white, then you will need more coats. Gets darker the longer you let sink in. I have only used Prot Tan because I get pretty dark from tanning. My best results have been:

~Shower with scrubby thing and moisturise skin after showers, year round.

~Tan in beds for up to 12 weeks before shows- 2 x wk (use an accelerator or bronzer)

~Last Shower: Fri am, finish all shaving.

~Start Pro Tan Coats Friday afternoon. Spray on sponge then paint skin or pour in a bowl and dab sponge.

~Sleep on older sheets, touch up or more coats Saturday morning few hours before prejudging.

If you shower again, you just wash off coats. I would not shower until Saturday night after the show. You can wash your hair and face Saturday but not body IMO

Here`s how I apply PT with a Sat. contest in mind:

Mon.-
Shower, exfoliate with loofa sponge, and shave entire body in AM

Wed.
Shower and remove any stubble with razor,or spots you may have missed
Apply one coat, let dry in afternoon
Apply another coat and let dry ,early evening

NOTE: be careful not to apply immediately after shaving, because it could irritate the skin .............wait an hour or two................get up early to do this step.

Thurs.-
Shower, but do not scrub, wash underarms and private areas with soap but only scrub gently so as not to remove too much of the PT.

Put on one to two more coats after showering.

Fri.-
Shower(same as above, and get up extra early)
Apply two or more coats as needed.........let dry well between coats.(always do this or you`ll get a build up and it`ll look blotchy)

Shave your face on Friday night so as to avoid irritation when you apply PT to the face on the morning before the contest.

Sat.-
Day of contest-touch up areas, get to the venue and spray a small amount on applicator, put on face, repeat as needed, and blend is as good as possible.

I applied my coats the Thurs prior to the show. Upon applying I always had my gf hit me with the hair dryer for an even dry...

I did not shower the 2 days prior in fear that I would have to start over.

Make sure that you sleep in old sheets and wear dark, old clothes.Stay cool and try not to sweat

I have also had friends use Dream Tan, it's a gel that was more of a bronzer
