I've started feeding mine bandicoots (yes, they're alive when i give them to the cats :-[).  it's done wonders for the cats fur . . . they're all shiny looking.  they've also gotten a little bit more athletic.  at first they didn't want to have anything to do w the bandicoots  . . . but guy is a great motivator.

actually i was thinking about these rats I saw in Sri lanka . . . the locals told me they were called bandicoot rats, and they were effin' enormous.  and ugly as sin.

ones i saw were darker and dirtier.  maybe vet can post a pic.

how do ya measure the dirtyness of a rat relative to another one ?

i've never really seen rats digging through rotting garbage in the US (i'm sure it happens though).  these were digging through garbage dumped by the side of the road . . . their fur was all matted with it and slimy . . . and they were fat as fuck too.

come to think of it neither have I although when I was in New York I did'nt have time to look for rats,rats here in San Diego just hang out in vacant field and dig holes and get lots of fresh air and exercise
