Attacking the messenger, and not the message?
« on: November 05, 2007, 09:00:25 AM »
I love it when I'm watching debates or discussions, and guys will hear something they don't like from a politician.

So instead of attacking what the politician says, they'll attack the man himself.

The "nut" for example, might actually have a point.  But the debater lacks the mental prowess to comprehend or attack with merit, the argument put forth by a high profile person who is obviously smarter.

So, the debater will call him a name, and laugh about it, high-five his fellow nimwit friends.  They won't even know what the argument is about - but hey - it gave them a chance to insult someone who is infinitely more important than they are, in the world.

Funny stuff.  Epic self-owning by non-thinkers in a thinking man's game.
