Damn...

Kinda hard to believe the story when he says something like this.  Some folks will say "they lied about this one plane, but told the truth about the other 3".  It just gets harder and harder to have faith in this administration when they lie about something as big as 911.   :-\

Also - youtube has one of the people on the 911 Commission slipping and saying "missile, uh, airplane, that hit the pentagon" also.  I don't have a link though.

lol.  Oh that does it for me.   :)  Anyone who has given speeches can relate to this.  Sometimes you misspeak, sometimes you say stupid stuff, sometimes you say the complete opposite of what you intend.  Many other examples.

But this?  There is a reason why no one outside of "alternative news sites" is talking about it.  It's a non-story.

I think it's very possible that we shot down our own plane and didn't want to admit it.

If we did, then yeah, I think the White House would rather make those people look like heroes, than just some unlucky saps that we shot down.  Imagine Kerry in 2004... "Well, at least I never shot down a commercial jet".  It would have looked really bad for Bush.

And I think that's why so many 911 conspiracists want another investigation.  Because essentially, the White house investigated itself for 911.  And since they've lied about so many other things, well, why wouldn't they lie about 911?  And now we see Rummy *possibly* lying about 911... well... now they're lying about PART of 911 but not all of it?

I'd never trust a detective to investigate his own mistress' murder.  Would you?  I'm not on board with 240 and everyone else, but I don't think they're nuts either.  none of us knows what happened that day, cause we've only been told things by the white house, who benefitted greatly from 911, and who might be covering their asses, who knows.

Rummy is one of the most eloquent and intelligent speakers in DC.

He is extremely cunning, and always selects his words wisely.  He's witty.  He's charming.

He did not mis-speak.  The 8-mile debris field, coupled with Rummy's words, the NBC video of flyover of crash site (was empty immediately after crash before feds arrived) should be more than enough to cast doubt to warrant a second investigation.

If you gave a shit about the lives of those 3000 dead, you'd give a shit about a real investigation.  But, you're a lazy shitbird who does what the tv tells you, so you dont give a rats ass about dead americans.

Not really.  I'm simply not coo coo for cocoa puffs like you.

I doubt you've ever spoken in front of a group of adults, so you are likely simply talking out of your rear end (again).  My read of that clip is he simply misspoke.

Not taking either side here, but I do remember Bush senior giving a speech in which he said "We've had sex....setbacks, setbacks.", then I could not hear anything else he said over the crowd laughing.     ;D

Ok... I'll be first to say you don't accidentally say we shot down 93, beach is way off on that.  but Rummy, eloquent :D  NOT...

I don't know what to call this, maybe psychobabble, but it isn't eloquent :D  On a side note, I consider Tony Blair to be the best public speaker and debater of our time.

Rumblings by Donald Rumsfeld

The Unknown
As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.

—Feb. 12, 2002, Department of Defense news briefing

Glass Box
You know, it's the old glass box at the—
At the gas station,
Where you're using those little things
Trying to pick up the prize,
And you can't find it.
It's—

And it's all these arms are going down in there,
And so you keep dropping it
And picking it up again and moving it,
But—

Some of you are probably too young to remember those—
Those glass boxes,
But—

But they used to have them
At all the gas stations
When I was a kid.

—Dec. 6, 2001, Department of Defense news briefing

A Confession
Once in a while,
I'm standing here, doing something.
And I think,
"What in the world am I doing here?"
It's a big surprise.

—May 16, 2001, interview with the New York Times

Happenings
You're going to be told lots of things.
You get told things every day that don't happen.

It doesn't seem to bother people, they don't—
It's printed in the press.
The world thinks all these things happen.
They never happened.

Everyone's so eager to get the story
Before in fact the story's there
That the world is constantly being fed
Things that haven't happened.

All I can tell you is,
It hasn't happened.
It's going to happen.

—Feb. 28, 2003, Department of Defense briefing

The Digital Revolution
Oh my goodness gracious,
What you can buy off the Internet
In terms of overhead photography!

A trained ape can know an awful lot
Of what is going on in this world,
Just by punching on his mouse
For a relatively modest cost!

—June 9, 2001, following European trip

The Situation
Things will not be necessarily continuous.
The fact that they are something other than perfectly continuous
Ought not to be characterized as a pause.
There will be some things that people will see.
There will be some things that people won't see.
And life goes on.

—Oct. 12, 2001, Department of Defense news briefing

Clarity
I think what you'll find,
I think what you'll find is,
Whatever it is we do substantively,
There will be near-perfect clarity
As to what it is.

And it will be known,
And it will be known to the Congress,
And it will be known to you,
Probably before we decide it,
But it will be known.

Who knows?  Maybe he didn't realize he misspoke.  Very easy to do when you have a lot of issues to discuss.

How long was this speech?  I can't see taking a couple words out of a speech and creating a mass conspiracy out of them.

The conspiracy was already there before he said it ;)
