MADISON — Ron Lund wasn’t surprised when he heard a jewelry store accidentally threw out a pair of diamond earrings worth $10,000, but he was surprised when he found them.
Lund, who works for Pellitteri Waste, picks up garbage from more than 130 businesses, including a jewelry store.
Lund said he knew where the store’s items fell in his load, so that helped narrow the search.
He grabbed a bag and found the earrings inside. The search took about eight minutes.
The jewelry store owner gave Lund $80 as a reward.
