bulking diet
« on: November 15, 2007, 01:45:49 PM »
so guys. i have been cutting for almost a year and a half now. i have never gotten any solid amount of time "bulking up" since the june before last. (the excact date of when i started to diet was the july 4th of LAST year.). i have finally achieved a six pack, albeit a 6 pack with loose skin on the bottom to abdominals.., so now its finally time to start a slow steady lean bulk. im carbing up today, then i MIGHT do one more cycle of keto dieting just so i can eat alot next thursday(thanksgiving). but here is what i am thinking for my bulking phase

breakfast= it will vary, but either 6 whole eggs; or a bunch off egg whites, some fish oil, and a bowl of fiber one. i am thinking those two meals will make up the majority of my breakfasts.

throughout the day i will be making sure to get 30 grams(or somewhere around that much) protein every few hours. mostly eating on instinct, but i am a "hungry" individual, so im sure my instincts will be at least ever 2 and a half hours.  ill supplement with fish oil...the amount will be dependant on the amount of fats in my protein sources. if i am eating whole eggs, then i wont take any, if its red meat, i wont take any, if its chicken, egg whites, tuna, or turkey..ill take a few capsules.  my one food category that wont be moderated, and that will make up a big portion of my calories will be raw veggies. im letting my calories surplus and "bulk" come from lettuce and broccoli and greens like that.

my pre-workout supplements will be bcaa's, glutamine, and creatine. my post workout supplements will be glutamine and bcaas.

before bed every night ill take one capsule of fish oil and 5 g bcaa(two capsules)

cardio 3 times a week.

whats your guys opinions?

Why are you asking for advice? you seem to know it all when it comes to bulking, cutting, etc. I'm not trying to be funny or mean it's just how your posts look on the board.

well i certainly THINK i know it all. lol. but i think that alot of other people know alot of information as well. just because i readily give out advice doesnt mean i dont readily accept advice as well.

i love getting second opinions and as much info as possible.

Fair enough. I would personally take 10-15 grams of fish oil daily no matter the other fats in your diet. But that's just me.

BTW - it's very hard to do a lean bulk.

I would skip the bcaas if you're doing a caloric surplus because they are best suited to cutting diets.  I would consider adding some dairy to your diet.  I would also advocate adding some almonds and walnuts in the mix.

Agreed. Maybe some yogurt as your dairy.

You seem carbophobic.  I like carbs with breakfast and pwo even when I diet.  A small amount of carbs with each meal helps my energy a lot.  Depends how carb sensitive you are I suppose.

Other than ruffage (fiber) and vitamins, there is little to no nutritional value to veggies.  Different ones will have different uses (cleanser, slight anti-estro etc.)

Wanna bulk?  Continue to eat clean but just eat more.  A potato or cup and a half of brown rice will go a LONG way to keep you growing and keep energy levels up.  The trick to not getting fat on a bulk diet is to stay as far away from simple sugars as possible.  You'll want about 30g simpler sugars in the AM and perhaps another 30-40g after your work out but during those times you want to keep fat intake to a bare minimum.

Simple sugars signal your  body to release insulin and insulin carries nutrients from your stomach to your cells and will start the signal of fat storage if you are in carb excess.

VERY hard to get fat on baked potatoes and long grain brown rice.

Wanna look like a beast?  Eat like one!

Do you count calories? For somebody that seems so obsessed with food i find it rather funny you are gonna eat by feeling.
I have recently started counting cals, it's a bitch at first. But now i have a lot of numbers in my head and i can do it pretty fast.

Don't be afraid of some carbs during and after a workout. Most of it get's absorped by your muscles so you won't get fat from that.
