drug addiction is a health issue, not a criminal issue.  treat it that way and you have a better chance of getting it under control.

if you can only get it from a pharmacy, and you can only get one month's supply per month, you can still sell it to a single person.  but that is much different that the local drug dealer selling it to hundreds.

Sports organizations, being private organizations, can set any rules they want for their members.  If they want to require drugs tests, that's ok.   But the government should not be involved.  Since I am not on any amateur or professional sports teams, I should have the freedom to use anabolic steroids.

It should be available through sports clinics and doctor's office's, under supervision and controlled with frequent blood tests.

Actually, you don't have the freedom to use them.  You are breaking the law buying them.  If you are going to live in a country you should respect it's laws.  If you want to use illegal drugs freely (deemed illegal by the government in the country in which you choose to live in) then you need to move to a country where it's legal.

My example above:  corticosteroids, that is cortisone injections.   it enhances athletic performance.   every pro athlete, baseball, football, tennis, golf, basketball, every pro sport, has used it.   Perfectly legal performance enhancing drug.   

another example, laser eye surgery.  many athletes with 20/20 vision have gotten it to improve their vision to 20/15.  Great advantage for baseball pitchers, golfers, and tennis players.

but like I said, sports organizations can set any rules they want.  they can determine what is a level playing field.  but the government shouldn't be involved.

The steroid control act effectively removed the medical supervision, and so in the last 16 years you have uninformed guys injecting blindly (you have to have the blood tests, because you have to judge by serum values, not by dose alone) and no ancillaries to control sides.  Therefore the big rise in bodybuilders with big health problems.

yes, legally it was.  and lots of pro athletes were using them.   The Olympics didn't ban them until 1976.  Lots of Olympic athletes were using them throughout the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s.   We should put asterisks next to all their names.

       Baseball is ruining the game with a juiced ball and juiced players.  Statistics and records were a big part of the game, by turning it into XBox for short term $$$$ is really stupid.

Legalizing drugs has been proposed by several economists.. Like Milton Friedman. It would ease the tax burden, decrease the prison population, lower the crime rate, and many other things.


And I agree with Squad, wtf are they doing? Why waste tax money on that asshole? Let the MLB deal with it.
