broccoli! haha. broccoli is catabolic, because it takes more calories to digest the broccoli than the broccoli actually contains! almost all vegetables are catabolic. BUT, all vegetables contain an ample supple of vitamins phytonutrients which help digest and exctract all of your other consumed nutrients and calories, help fight off free radicals, support your immune system, improve cell function, and increase basal metabolic rate!!!
the only catabolic foods are carbohydrates. and only carbohydrates in which the fiber content is equal to or greater than half of the total carbohydrate content. so a high fiber cereal like all bran which is 25 grams carbs and 15 grams fiber is also catabolic.
(some of you might recall me getting my panties all up in a knot about cantaloupes...but cantalopes are not catabolic, because their fiber content is less than half its sum total of carbs. )
