Granted, I'm not as hardcore about training or diet as most getbiggers, but i eat when I'm hungry and don't when I'm not. that equals about 4 times a day, more when I'm active.

2-3 actual meals & then I'll kind of graze a little as the day goes on.

i think too many meals is bad. sure, a steady flow of nutrients and insulin sounds nice, but that also means you have a lack of growth hormone all day as well.

sure.
growth hormone is the opposite hormone of insulin. when one goes up, the other goes down, and vice versa. insulin is a storage hormone. growth hormone is a fat burning hormone, but interestingly enough, also a repairing hormone that doesnt really cue for "storage" but for tissue regeneration and recuperation, so in reality..its like a selective storage hormone to proteins only, and a selective catabolic hormone to fat cells only. its a pretty awesome hormone. but its only secreted when you have low levels of insulin. so less meals=more growth hormone. BUT less meals also=less insulin.

its a delicate balance....and how heavy you want each hormones presence in your body has to be figured out for yourself...because everyBODY is different. (ectos probably want mor insulin, endos probably more g.h.....   but again, everyBODY is different)

just to clarify....insulin is a MUCH more powerful storage hormone than gh is in regards to protein. while growth hormone does promote tissue repair and protein storage, it doesnt force feed the muscles like insulin does. .....its still pretty effective though.

Interesting, to be honest, i didn't know about the link between insulin and HGH.

From what i think, HGH is probably more effective for burning fats than for building muscle. HGH production goes downhill pretty fast in older guys. You often see that they are still strong and don't loose too much muscle but their metabolism goes down and they don't burn fat that well anymore, so the bf% goes up if they don't take action.

I read that during Ramadan (fasting overday for muslims, they eat breakfast before dawn and dinner after sunset) muslims that keep the same amount of calories a day actually lose fat (and keep the LBM). Probably HGH plays a role there... The succes of the  "caveman diet" (one meal a day) for some people could also be explained by this...

I'm starting to think that the only time when you need an insulin spike is during/after a workout. So i am gonna bring down my carbs in other meals even more and add them to pwo.

So, you would rather not give your body enough nutrients and building blocks for growth? This is a ridiculous statement.

No food = no growth, no recovery, slower metabolism, no energy...anything I missed??

your missing the point..taking a 4 hour break from eating is not going to result in catabolism of muscle tissue, or result in a metabolic slowdown.....what will happen is your insulin levels will fall back down, your gh will rise, you will continue to repair muscle tissue; but you will be burning body fat and keeping yourself in a balance.
