Does it get any better than Thomas Scheu? I don't think so.

The first Photo was made in the Gym where Thomas trains regulary (Gym 80, Koblenz, Leistungszentrum Sebastian). I know him since the 80`s....he was the only Bodybuilder in Germany who won the Juniors-Overall at the German Nationals (Deutsche Meisterschaft in München), and won also the next Year the mens Overall-title at the nationals with only 21 Years. He´s now still 45 years old. At his win of his first men-title in Munich Larry Scott was the Guest-Poser. He`s also known to be one of the best Poser in Bodybuilding. He works "full-time" in Neuwied (10 Minutes from Koblenz). I think no other German Bodybuilder was doing more Guestposings as Thomas. He also has a long-time-contract with "peak" (Bodybuilding Nutrition).
Still a legend.....

It’s too bad that someone who is a bodyuilding legend in Germany can be so unknown in the US.

He competed only one time in America. It was the World Championships in Las Vegas, 1984/85 ? (Cesars Palace). That time he competed as a middleweight. He won several world championships (also 1 time overall) at the IFBB as a light-heavyweight. This year he competed at around 95 kg (210 lbs). Ne never want a Procard....and i think this was the right desicison for him, because in Germany he earned more money as a very good Amateur, as a Pro whos placing the "midfield".

I've seen Thomas pose several times at the World Championships. He is probably the best poser I have ever seen in the sport. For those of you who know him, does he stay lean year round???

More than any recent BB I can think of, Scheu should have become a (action) film star.

Gezzz wizzzz batman.... at 45 to be in such shape and all over tone heck he could step into any competion and place with probably two weeks of prep time... what an inspiration to all those "want-to be"... takes guts not to take the Pro-card.... in the US not a good idea to turn it down once offered... almost like your own death card... never to get another opportunity unless you really kick some butt in the next couple of pose downs ...
Great pics... and thanks for posting...

Some bodybuilders look good for a short period of time then crash and burn (I won’t name any names) but Scheu has looked great for a very long time and, in fact, has looked better and better every year. Herr Scheu is amazing!

Apparently the "Scheu" heritage comes from good stock. I know a couple of "Scheu" bodybuilders and both are on the phenominal side of this sport but prefer not to compete.
Haven't seen any recent photos but I've always been impressed by James Hampton throughout the years. First met him in Las Vegas sometimes back in the late 70's while he was competing in the USA. I think that was the year that Ichinose won his class.
I've been told that Hampton kept improving over the years and was seen competing recently looking as young and even better than did in the 70's.
Any James Hampton info/updates/photos out there?? One of the best bodybuilders out there who never turned pro.

He`s working full-time (not in BB-Buissiness) in Neuwied (about 50.000 people city at the Rhein-river, 40 Minutes away from Cologne). He still is training......at Leistungszentrum Sebastian in Koblenz. But he also trains regulary at Fitnesscenter-Klock in Gießen where Dr. Martina + Detlef Herget and Peter "Pit" Trenz helping him with his preparation for upcoming shows. Maybe he will compete in the german-IFFB-World-championship-elimination in 9 Months ? When i see/meet him in the next months i will ask him.

He certainly does justice to that shirt. I am envious. If I could look that good in shirts like that, I would wear them exclusively

Nothing special. He mainly work in the 8-12 rep-range, medium to high volume. His weights where moderate-heavy. And he works out mostly very strict. Back in his early 20´s he trained more to get heavier and stronger. I remember that he could do free Squats with 660 lbs for 3-4 reps. But his Training-Partner in that Time (Bernd Friedrich, intern. German-BB-Champ heayweight, later a prof. boxer, also 2 time german-Boxing Champ in the HW-Devison, lost the title against Axel Schulz....) did a 350 kg (770 lbs) Squat in a Junior-Competition.

In that first side-pose he is a bit reminiscent of Strydom. He looks great.
